Dont know bout java, but ur best bet is to break it down into categories, THEN search. for instance, there's css, html, workin wit programs like photoshop, dreamweaver, flash, scripting ie php, java script, web design is broad, and i feel ur bound to get more in depth tutorials on each dan just dat topic. dat said, try www.tutorialized.com. it has great affiliate sites too! |

Java Web container (Apache Tomcat) Java Server Page (JSP) is a technology for controlling the content or appearance of Web pages through the use of servlets, small programs that are specified in the Web page and run on the Web server to modify the Web page before it is sent to the user who requested it. Sun Microsystems, the developer of Java, also refers to the JSP technology as the Servlet application program interface (APO). JSP is comparable to Microsoft's Active Server Page (ASP ) technology. The Java Servlet APO allows a software developer to add dynamic content to a web server using the Java platform. The generated content is commonly HTML, but may be other data such as XML. Serviles are the Java counterpart to dynamic web content technologies such as CG or ASP. It has the ability to maintain state after many server transactions. This is done using HTTP Cookies, session variables or URL rewriting. A reusable component that can be used in any Java application development environment. JavaBeans are dropped into an application container, such as a form, and can perform functions ranging from a simple animation to complex calculations. Tomcat, the first reference container for hosting Java dynamic contents that runs on Sun MicroSystems technologies, for example Java. It comes with a HTTP/HTTPS server and could be used to deploy a real life web application. Finally, to learn web application development using java, start with tomcat container, don't jump into any complicated containers like JBoss, BEA etc. Download Jakarta tomcat from here. Choose your development platform, I used Unix because my platform is Fedora but you can choose Windows for your platform. Install it on your machine or host, open up a web browser i.e. Internet Explorer or Firefox then type this http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 Note, during installation change the port number to 80 from either 8080 or 8181. The more you know computer the more you would understand what is port. Port is a particular route to an application. Beacause Internet application is vast i.e. email, web app, ftp, http, imap, smtp, htomail chat and yahoo chat etc. all these application uses the same IP to route message to one computer on the Internet/Intranet. If a packet arrived to a host with Source address: 87.2.13.9.231 Destination address 192.32.1.3.98 Message Header: CF:88:S9:00:FF:55:11 Without port information the destination host would not be able to identify the requesting application but imagine the packet arrived with this info Source address: 87.2.13.9.231 Source Port: 8081 Destination address 192.32.1.3.98 Message Header: CF:88:S9:00:FF:55:11 Destination Port: 80 Immediately the OS (Operating System) knows that the packet is destined to a web server engine and the packet is transfered. Port is very important in networking.
