The Job Descriptions are as follows:

Offshore Inspection & Commissioning Lead

• A minimum of 20 years facilities commissioning operations experience in the Oil and Gas industries, of which one substantial project should have been performed in an offshore environment, preferably involving FPSO.
• Team leader for the offshore Inspection, Testing and Commissioning team.
• Reports into the OIM offshore and to the Inspection and Commissioning Team Leader onshore.
• Shall be the focal point for liaison with other offshore teams: Operations, Maintenance, Marine, Pipelines and Wells etc.
• Shall organize and coordinate the daily work load of the multi-discipline inspection and commissioning teams following systems completion priorities.
• Responsible for local administrative and logistics task related to those in the Inspection, Testing & Commissioning team.
• Shall lead HSE Risk Assessments for all multi-discipline commissioning activities and conduct Toolbox talks as required.
• Shall ensure that all works are carried out under the Shell Permit to Work system.
• Responsible for preparation of daily progress report for the inspection, testing and commissioning activities, and reporting of physical progress into the planning team onshore.
• Shall coordinate the maintenance and compilation of all inspection and commissioning documentation, test procedure records, check sheets, punch lists, work orders etc. in order to demonstrate Readiness for Start-up and other key milestones.
• Shall interface with the onshore based Integrity Verification engineers to support the Asset Integrity verification programme.
• Shall interface with the onshore based Certification engineer regarding the distribution of completed commissioning check sheet records.
• Shall direct the activities of 3rd party inspection companies and OEM equipment vendors.
• Responsible for liaison offshore with the FPSO classification authority, Lloyds Register on all matters related to obtaining Class certification for the vessel.

Mechanical Technicians

• Minimum of 10 years experience in offshore oil and gas fields as a Mechanical Technician.
• Conduct Activity Risk Assessments using ARAT tool.
• Raise Isolation Certificates and Permit to Work requests.
• Conduct toolbox talks within discipline team.
• Perform all Mechanical equipment inspection and pre-commissioning activities identified on Pre-commissioning check sheets including:
o Perform inspections of static and rotating mechanical equipment, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, pumps and HVAC equipment etc.
o Shall be able to demonstrate experience of commissioning and maintenance diesel engines.
o Carry out alignment of rotating equipment, pumps, generators, compressors etc.
o Monitor equipment test runs. Record speed, temperatures, vibrations etc.
o Assist specialist vendors on the commissioning Turbine Generators, Compressors, Cranes and Lifeboat Davits etc.
• Carry out basic maintenance and servicing work on mechanical equipment including replacement of filters, belts, lubricants etc.
• Rectify punch list items.
• Compile all check sheet documentation, check sheets results and identify punch list items as appropriate. Submit check sheets etc. to the Commission Database Engineer.

Electrical Technicians

• Minimum of 10 years experience in offshore oil and gas fields as an Electrical Technician.
• Shall be required to be attested and certified as Authorised Electrical Person under the competency requirements of the Shell Electrical Safety rules.
• Conduct Activity Risk Assessments using ARAT tool.
• Raise Isolation Certificates and Permit to Work requests.
• Conduct toolbox talks within discipline team.
• Perform all Electrical equipment and system inspection and pre-commissioning activities identified on pre-commissioning check sheets including:
o Perform inspections and electrical tests on electrical equipment prior to energisation.
o Carry out megger, ducter and hi-pot tests on electrical equipment and cables.
o Monitor motor test runs and record results.
o Carry out fault finding diagnostics on control panels etc.
o Assist specialist vendors on the commissioning Turbine Generators and Switchgear etc.
o Assist the Telecoms engineer as required.
• Carry out basic maintenance and servicing work on electrical equipment.
• Rectify punch list items.
• Compile all check sheet documentation, check sheets results and identify punch list items as appropriate. Submit check sheets etc. to the Commission Database Engineer.
• ATEX/Compex Certification for inspection of electrical equipment in hazardous areas will be an advantage.
• Experience of testing HV equipment will be and advantage.


Instrument Technicians

• Minimum of 10 years experience in offshore oil and gas fields as an Instrument Technician.
• Shall be required to be attested and certified as Competent Instrument Person under the competency requirements of the Shell Electrical Safety rules.
• Conduct Activity Risk Assessments using ARAT tool.
• Raise Isolation Certificates and Permit to Work requests.
• Conduct toolbox talks within discipline team.
• Perform all Instrumentation system inspection and testing activities identified on pre-commissioning check sheets including:
o Perform inspections and pre-energisation on instrumentation systems.
o Perform calibration and pre-commissioning checks on all field instrument devices, transmitters, actuators etc.
o Carry out fault finding diagnostics on devices and systems as required.
o Support specialist vendors on the re-commissioning of the Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emergency Support System (ESS).
• Carry out basic maintenance and servicing work on instrumentation devices and systems.
• Rectify punch list items.
• Compile all check sheet documentation, check sheets results and identify punch list items as appropriate. Submit check sheets etc. to the Commission Database Engineer.

Fire & Gas Technicians

• Minimum of 10 years experience in offshore oil and gas fields as an Instrument Technician with at least 5 years specialising in the commissioning of Fire & Gas systems.
• Shall be required to be attested and certified as Competent Instrument Person under the competency requirements of the Shell Electrical Safety rules.
• Conduct Activity Risk Assessments using ARAT tool.
• Raise Isolation Certificates and Permit to Work requests.
• Conduct toolbox talks within discipline team.
• Perform all inspection and testing activities identified on pre-commissioning check sheets on the Fire and Gas system including:
o Perform inspections and pre-energisation on the F&G systems.
o Perform calibration and pre-commissioning checks on all field devices, detectors, damper and valve actuators etc.
o Carry out fault finding diagnostics on F&G devices and systems as required.
o Support specialist vendor on the re-commissioning of the Fire & Gas System.
• Carry out basic maintenance and servicing work on F&G devices and systems.
• Rectify punch list items.
Compile all check sheet documentation, check sheets results and identify punch list items as appropriate. Submit check sheets etc. to the Commission Database Engineer.
