NIGERIAN SECURITY CONTRACTORS ARE CHEATS.



It is no longer news that security companies are springing up all over the place like Mushrooms a good number of them unregistered and some operating from their homes and the Government is doing nothing about it. When are they going to act? I hope that it is not till kingdom come.

Never in all of my life have I heard in the news nor read in the trades in a civilized country other than in Nigeria where security employees are cheated grossly and relegated to the background, where security employees are treated like as though they are not among. Bothered by this development I went around interviewing security employees and by God what did they tell me. some of them wondered why they who do the job and put their lives on the line, stay up all night under the very insatiable and ever thirsty mosquitoes only at the end of the month to get paid a miserable six-thousand five hundred Naira; some of the very lucky one’s get eight-thousand naira and their employer’s expect a very sound thank you sir from them.

The truth is that this security company owner get paid huge sums of money! a good number of them wondered aloud why for humanity’s sake they who do the job can’t get paid as agreed to between their boss and contracting company; which is 70/30.70percent to the lose prevention officer attached to the concerned contract and 30 percent to the security company. Their bosses turned around and gave them 30 percent!

When at the end of their working years with these organizations they know they won’t get paid any gratuity or allowance’s from these security organs; because the company that gave away the job to these security contractor believed that they have paid everything including the concerned individual’s gratuity and any form of allowance(s) to the contractor who will in all their wrongfulness use people’s would have been gratuity to acquire almost unbelievable luxuries. The security man knew solidly well that all this are done with his money, but what can he do? if he dared to write or ask for an upward review of his salary, the boss will tell him that he won’t get it and warn him sternly to either stay put with that salary or quickly get out the door.
Not failing to remind him that thirty or more people are eagerly waiting to take over from him for five Thousand Five Hundred for his six thousand five hundred luxury position. This development is not, not fair. This is fraud on the part of these contractors, this is fraud on the part of government for pretending that it does not know that many Nigerians have virtually become slaves in their own country.

I want to use this medium to appeal to the President Musa Yar’adua to please use the power the Nigerian Constitution vests on him to declare these security companies and anything that is called cheating hiding under the guise of contract irrelevant and therefore illegal.These organization’s especially the security companies have striped and taken away future livelihood of many Nigerians. In other Countries where they know the value of security men, they are handsomely paid and treated well because for them they know that their very lives depend on how fast their security men can act.

This is one fact that is either not available to the Nigerians and Companies in Nigeria, that patronize security organs or they just choose not to care. how on earth can a man who is not well paid therefore can’t feed well decide to lay down is one and only precious life for a boss who the security men knew that he the boss knows that the security man are not well paid by the organization he contracted the Job to?

I also want to use this medium to appeal to employers of labour both individual and industrial to please for the sake of the survival of the average man to shun these deceitful and ill-directed organizations. whose dealings with the average Nigerian reeked of ruthless abandon. The unregistered security companies must be closed down forever. While the registered ones must be made to pay their employees like humans as the real contract terms arrived at.
The federal government must make companies operate regarding treatment of our citizens according to the laws of our country.some companies can not claim not to know that their lose prevention officers are not treated.
Outsourcing is not suppose to be cheating.
Security companies as far as Nigeria is concerned is about cheating:this must stop.
