Igbos told to plan for Presidency in 2015

By Christian Okeke - 30.09.2008

As the Igbos mark 2008 Igbo Day, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor Epiphany Azinge, has suggested Igbos should prepare to take up the leadership of the country in 2015.

Delivering a lecture in Abuja entitled, “Ofu Obi, (One Mind),” the legal luminary lamented that in 2007, the South South region was more organised in clinching the Presidency than the South East.

When the time reached, he said, Igbos should banish any Igbo man who opted for Vice President, adding that it was time for the region to begin to start building bridges with other ethnic groups towards achieving this goal.

Prof Azinge charged Igbos not to accept to be inferior in the country owing to their contributions in making it what it was. He charged the people to rise up against the old practice where contractors abandoned projects in the region and observed that the way for the Igbos to achieve their aims in the Project Nigeria was by paying more attention to oneness.

Prof Azinge lambasted the Ohaneze Nd’Igbo which he described as a group that had not been honest. The chairman of Ohaneze Nd’Igbo, Federal Capital Territory (FCT chapter), Vidal Wachukwu, wondered when bickering, infighting would become the thing of the past

To produce a president is not just a mouth talk, it is action.
1. To produce the presidency, there is a great need for everyone there to be united and it is important to be united with the other part of Nigeria as well, we need to understand that election will be Nigerian wide and not Igbo wide alone, there is need for the Igbos to start gearing for unity and stop trying to break away.
I believe Igbo would make a great president because, they have good sense of economics and they can represent Nigeria better in the Foreign affairs and not all these Yorubas and hausas that are just emberassing us all over the place.

i think you should be called silly ben
be coz you so flagrantly show your narrow mindedness
prejudice never shows much reason
there would be no Nigeria without the contribution of the ibos or isokos or ijaws or hausas or yourubas etc
ibos have a valid right to the throne just like any other
for u to say others are irrelevant means your mind is still trapped in the hole of tribalism (to say the least)
silly man take note

Here comes another Metuselam with his wisdom and expertise on Ndigbo. Tell me how united Yorubas were when Obasanjo became president in 1999? How united is the north were for Yar Adua in 2007? And you can go a bit further and ask how united Katsina state were for Yar Adua? knowing that his Katsina cousin Buhari is still in court, more than a year after selection fighting.
You guys should leave Ndigbo alone with your expertise but never in your miserable lives ever cross the Niger bridge to the East but seem to know more than our creator.

Nwanne, no mind them hypocrites. Every other nigerians are masters of Igbo affairs. When it's their turn to produce the president according to their (shoot themselves in the leg because of Igbo hatred) rotational presidency, it will become awusa wide and Yoruba wide, but when it comes to Igbo turn, it will become nigerian wide and not Igbo wide alone.
Start gearing for unity my arrsss when the author of this comment don't even know anything about the basic things that drives a people of any country to become patriotic and seek for the unity of their country. Porous heads. You think unity can be attained to by just mouthing off. That is how Americans maintained their own until today.

Goodluck is from the south-south, in the entire south-south region , there is no tribe with a population of 4 million. How can somebody from south-south become president in 2015, while the ibos who are one of the major ethnic group in Nigeria, and whose turn is it to produce the next president is overlooked.

Its the turn of the Ibos, if anybody has any contrary openion  , let me hear it.

Obj didnt win the presidency, he rigged it, Obj never ride on the yoruba's love, he rode on the hausa's, the igbos cant stand the northerners, and neither do north gets along well with the igbos, so all i was telling you is that, igbos needs to start acting now and not just expect it to be handed to them on the platter of gold, besides, i was hoping that by the time 2015 will be here, we would have been able to do away with rigging of election as the only mean to power, i would hope that nigeria would have grown enough to do the real politics and not a demonstration of craziness.

Yes, i do support goodluck to be in power if yar'Adua dies, hope he wont though, but being the VP at present, i blv it will be automatic that he assumes power, however, i am always against that nonesensical statement of rotation of presidency, i think it is ludacris and total dumb thing, how could they rotate presidency, every constituency has their own access to all political parties, so let all run, let all purchase the form, apply to run and allow pple of the nation to decides who rules them, and not a tribal base.
There is nothing like it is the tun of the igbos or the turn of hausas or even the yorubas, this is democracy and we need to do it so.
Re: Igbos Told To Plan For Presidency In 2015 by izaga3(m): 7:39pm On Oct 02, 2008
hemm eh oga fhemmy democracy is what they tell us. but you and I know what they've been doing since 1960 (well let's not stretch it so much) since 1999. yoruba don rule, hausa dey rule now. ABEG make una cool down 4 ibo now. come 2015 its ibo presidency or B****A.

Obasanjo got it through rotation, Yaradua got it through rotation, when its the turn of Ibo , everybody is now against rotation. This is unfair.

Bad things happen because good people remain silent.

The Igbos are definatly going to lead Nigeria in 2015, by fairness fire or force , whether they like it or not .
We the IGBO YOUTH CONGRESS are on ground this time around they would have us to contend with.
Strategies are being mapped out already.
ITS THE PRESIDENCY IN 2015 OR NOTHING ,

You just dont want to stop making me laff, how can u say OBJ got it thru rotation, do u even know the meaning of rotation? rotation means, everyone else will not be allowed to run, it is basically handing it over to the tribe, but you foget that it wasnt just obasanjo that was a yoruba man that ran for presidency, and remember some igbo ran as well, during the time of Yar'Adua, some igbo ran, they werent just in the favour books of the fool called OBJ, Nigeria is a democratical nation and has to remain that way, if you have to rule Nigeria, let people decide your faith and not some big belle idiots called the leader.

OBJ got it through power shift/rotation, during his first term in office only OBJ and Olu falae contested for the presidential election.

The north are now insisting that no matter what happen to Yaradua, they are going to complete their 8 years in office, just like the Yoruba did. Why cant the Ibo too be allowed their own turn. Why did OBJ insert Goodluck into the equation with the aim of denying the Ibos their turn

After Yaradua, it must be the turn of the Ibos
Re: Igbos Told To Plan For Presidency In 2015 by McKren(m): 5:56pm On Oct 03, 2008
Guys chill!!!!!

The next President of Nigeria will not be chosen on Nairaland.

There is even no shred of evidence that if power is zoned to South-South, Jonathan will emerge that President let alone even knowing where in the South it will be zoned to.

Nobody even knows if Yar'adua will continue to be President after 2011.

I think people should concentrate on what happens to their lives between now and 2011 first.
Re: Igbos Told To Plan For Presidency In 2015 by bilymuse: 12:59am On Oct 06, 2008
Yaradua is likely to continue until 2015, save for any Major catastrophe. Goodluck will start scheming into reckoning from next election.

Ibo people must start perfecting their strategy from now. If the presidency goes to south-south , it could take more than 30 years before the turn of the Ibo.
Re: Igbos Told To Plan For Presidency In 2015 by blackspade(m): 1:05am On Oct 06, 2008
All I will say is that I cannot wait until the Yar'adua, and his cabinet are removed from our central government. Too many goals have been setback, and too many irresponsible decisions have been made under his government. Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, etc. . . I could care less what ethnicity, I just want Nigeria to have a good president who will put more of an emphasis on the people of Nigeria, and not big business. Some may think I'm crazy for saying this, but what Nigeria temporarily needs is a hardcore socialist who is willing to bring our people and our country up from the current state is in now.

Just my 2 cents. smiley

OBVIOUS:

why not ?

don't mind her, i would take the job sharp sharp. all i have to reorganize my cabinet every six month to keep the people happy, smile for the camera during my new years speech, attend UN and AU meetings, sign the budget and travel out of the country for 4months out of the year. that's a great job.
