University Of Ilorin Lost A Rare Gem by Nobody: 6:19pm On Jun 27, 2014 |
The Union of campus journalists (Unilorin), Nigeria Association of Muslim Law Students, Muslim students society (Unilorin), Human Right Chambers, Emirates Students Association, Faculty of Law Judiciary, Faculty of Law Unilorin and the whole of University of Ilorin Student Union was on Friday, June 27, 2014 thrown into a state of mourning when it was announced of the death of one of her members. The news, unexpected, came as a shock. The leadership Namlas had earlier visited the deceased at his residence located at Adeta, Ilorin a week before his exit, precisely Friday, June 20, 2014 where appeal was made to his family to quickly fast-track the necessary travel process for his medical trip abroad. Zakariyyah Abiodun Olowo until his death was a 300L student of Law and a University scholar. He is equally the Organizing Secretary, Nigeria Association of Muslim Law Students, a Judge of Law Students’ Society Judiciary and the President, Union of Campus Journalist, University of Ilorin. He was in all a proud member of the University community. Zakariyyah was the first child of his parents and a promising young man in his early twenty. He was a devoted Muslim. He used to organize tutorial classes for students at all levels and with high sense of humility. It is no doubt that his knowledge, wisdom, intelligence and sense of duty would be missed by all. His exit is a reminder of the inevitability of death in the life of man and a loss to the whole of Nigeria. Olowo wrote two papers in the ongoing second semester exams before his health deteriorated. He had earlier been a patient with University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital but had his last breath in Abuja early this morning in the process of perfecting his travelling documents for treatment abroad. He died after a brief illness. May His Soul Rest in perfect peace.
