Luis Suarez Given Hero's Welcome In Uruguay (Pictures And Video) by dridowu: 9:08am On Jun 28, 2014 |
World Cup outcast Luis Suárez was yesterday treated to a hero's welcome as he arrived back in Uruguay and gained the unexpected support of the rival he bit, Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, although a top Uefa official says the Liverpool striker needs treatment. Suárez was sent home from Brazil in disgrace after Fifa imposed a four-month ban on him for biting Chiellini during Uruguay's 1-0 defeat of Italy on Tuesday. Despite attempts to keep his return under wraps there were 1,000 fans waving banners of support outside the terminal before he arrived. He was seen wearing a hooded top as he sped off to his mother's home but refused to comment. Chiellini had been outraged by Suarez's actions during and immediately after Tuesday's match but yesterday he surprisingly criticised Fifa's decision to hand out such an unprecedented ban, which Uruguay have promised to contest. On his official website, Juventus defender Chiellini wrote: "Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suárez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done. There only remains the anger and the disappointment about the match. My only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period. I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team-mates during the games because such a ban is really alienating for a player. However, Jérôme Valcke, the Fifa general secretary, said the length of the ban reflected Suárez's previous misdemeanours, and urged him to seek treatment. "If it's the first time, it's an incident," Valcke said. "If it is more than once, it is not an incident. That is why the ban was exemplary. He should find a way to stop doing it. He should go through treatment. " Uruguay are prepared to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Wilmar Valdez, the Uruguay Football Association president, said: "He is not just a football player, he is a human being and it is a very difficult situation for him – and as a human being and a football player he is going to have the full support of the FA and the Uruguayans without a doubt. We are looking at the case with the lawyer and we are going to look at our strategy." Suárez found another unlikely supporter in Argentine legend Diego Maradona, no stranger to controversy at the World Cup, who called the punishment "shameful." On his television show De Zurda, wearing a T-shirt with the words ‘Luis, we are with you', he said: "Fifa have no sensitivity towards the fans, they might as well handcuff him and throw him in Guantánamo. "It's an excessive suspension, Fifa cannot talk about morals to anyone. Suárez didn't kill anyone. This is an unjust punishment, the act of an incredible mafia." Liverpool are consulting legal experts with experience of Fifa disciplinary matters to assist their own investigation and it now leaves Brendan Rodgers, the manager, facing a huge decision on whether to give Suárez another chance after his latest indiscretion. The players' union Fifpro suggested that a legal review could "re-establish the facts in a calm and considered setting" and added: "The fact that Suárez is prohibited from working for a long period must be addressed as it directly infringes his right to work," The controversy has failed to deter growing interest from the Spanish giants and both clubs are prepared to pay the required clause, believed to be around £70 million, that will enable them to prise him away from Anfield. Suárez, meanwhile, has lost his first major sponsorship deal after 888poker announced they are to "terminate their relationship with immediate effect". Adidas, who have a £1 million contract, are also reviewing their position and are poised to have talks with Suárez and his representatives after the World Cup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rauumb53TuY http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/luis-suarez/10929713/Luis-Suarez-given-a-heros-welcome-at-Montevideo-airport-as-Uruguay-fans-flock-to-hail-striker-after-bite-ban.html

FiFA was wrong to give luis suarez such a hefty ban, they obviously succombed to pressure from the british media who are pissed because luis suarez elliminated them from the world cup. They have been screaming for FIFA to come down hard on Suarez and FIFA did and this is a shame on FIFA. Different people react differently when under pressure...Zenidine Zidane uses his head, some players use their elbow, rooney becomes aggressive and start going for legg breaking tackles, some players spit on other players and suarez uses his tooth and this isnt a big deal because he does it when he is under pressure and its usually not pre meditated, but impulsive unlike people who use their elbows or those who head butt others.because if you watch the replay you will see that chellini initially used his arm to prevent suarez from moving ahead and the same thing happend with ivanovic and because these players are bigger than suarez he gets fustrated and his naturall reaction is bitting am sure thats the way he grew up. So i believe head butting or using ones elbow on someone else is worse than luis suarez bitting someone, because head butting someone can cause more damage and going for aggressive tackles like rooney is worse and using the elbow on someone is worse as well and these crimes carry red card offences and possibly a couple of match bans. But because of the hatred the british fans and media have for suarez they have been able to push FIFA to come down hard on suarez and take the attention of the fans away from the National team"s poor performance at the world cup. I hope louis suarez can appeal and this ridiculous ban reduced. I believe louis suarez id a fanatastic player and deserves the heroes welcome. I am a man united fan 30 Likes |

He pushed his country to the semis at the 2010 world cup via a last second on the goal line ball stoppage with his hand. His country also scored a second round qualification goal seconds after ruffling the italian backline with his biting incident. Why wont he be a hero? 6 Likes |

Nigerians almost took a pound of flesh from Sani Kaita for lashing out in a moment of anger at an opponent that resulted in a Red Card. Nigerians also never forgave Yakubu Ayegbeni for missing a clear cut goal opportunity at a tournament.. But Luis Suarez gets a heroes welcome after slapping out a goal bound Ghanaian ball and biting an opponent. Just goes to show you the difference in mentality. 4 Likes |

Judging from my heart, I really feel pity for suarez, the guy has a serious problem and I hope he gets treatment because it's an act of shame. His kids could be mocked at school. Majority of people supporting him for the world to see would go behind close doors and feel shame for him. Biting people in public, not once, not twice but thrice. Then judging with my head, the right thing to do would be to stop suaarez from playing football. A 4 month ban is very very very lenient from FIFA, this is the truth. Do you all know that if you get bitten by someone, you ought to get treatment for it. Ivanovic and chellini went to their clinics. So should the next victim to be get bitten nd go to hospital? If suarez cannot stop biting he must be banned from the game or made to wear a face mask to play, fvck all the sentiments. NB- I feel pity for him and I pray he gets cure! 32 Likes |
