Female banker, 12-yr-old killed in Lagos bank robbery


A female banker and a 12-year- old boy were on Monday morning shot dead by armed robbers who invaded a branch of a new generation bank in Ketu area of Lagos State.


The bank, situated on Demurin Street in Ketu, is about 400 metres from a police station, yet the robbers had a field day terrorising early callers at the bank as well as residents of the area.

The robbers, numbering about 20, created chaos and confusion early in the morning as they shot sporadically in different directions while trying to force their way into the banking hall.


Nigerian Tribune gathered that the robbers, all clad in black attire, had around 8:00 a.m., invaded the bank and their attempt to force their way into the banking hall was stalled by the security door.


The robbers, while trying to break the barrier at the security door, shot sporadically at the door and eventually found their way into the banking hall where they shot a female banker whom they thought was the branch manager.


The robbers, while escaping after ransacking the bank, shot in different directions leading to several people being injured while they escaped through a canal in the area.


Two hours after the incident, policemen stormed the area and arrested some of the people around at the time of their invasion.


The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Mr. Frank Mba, declined comments on the incident.

What an unfortunate incident!

God will save us from these dare devils. Also worrisome is the response time of our police. A colleague was just narrating his experience with them over the weekend. He was told his house was being burgled and his wife and daughter were held up by men of the underworld as he was approaching his house, so he decided to inform the policemen he saw just a few meters away at a road block, and what they told him was to go to the police station to report as they were on another assignment. Can you beat that?

God help us.

I am a resident of Ketu
And what really happened was out of this world
That was not the first time robber will be coming to Banks
In the ketu area
And in all their previous visits the Police in ketu have been conspicuously missing
There was a time when Robbers operated just Opposite the Ketu police station for Hours
And we never saw a police man come out to stop them.

But when we talk of raiding innocent people they are the best
You must not think of Walking some areas like maskara in Ketu or else you will end up in cell
let alone go out anytime after 10PM,just know that you wont sleep in your House that night.

where were the police when the robbery was taking place?
On what grounds were they arresting those people that they arrested?do they look like robbers,wore black or had guns?
TUFIAKWA ! ! ! Our police plus country is pathetic
why banks?why not houses of those corrupt politicians?
May those dead souls rest in peace and speedy recovery for the injured ones.

Our Police force are unless in Nigeria, they always turn up after the armed robbers have left.

They too are number one criminals, they are worst than 419 scammers

it quite a pity that each time an inncident of robbery is reported our so called policemen are no where to be found not until after two hours of inncident report before their arrival. this inncident took place 400ms away from a police station so if i am not mistaken it should have taking the police nothing more than 10ms to have responded. so what is the matter with our so called police for God sake. if it is extorting money from hustling okadas /motorist they know how to respond quickly.i mean it is unspeakable.
