Farmers often times are confronted with challenges of producing for and supplying to their customers vegetables all year round because of the nature (seasonality) of the vegetables, some of these vegetables are warm-seasoned while others are cold-seasoned.

Nevertheless, farmers will have to wait for the next growing season when there are enough rainfall and other favorable climatic conditions. Another challenge farmer faces is the issue of disease attack. These trends have caused a decrease in farmers’ production (both in quantity and quality) and income. Vegetables are herbaceous, short seasoned and surface feeder plants requiring intensive care. They are grown for their leaves, roots or fruits.
