kmariko: There is no time for high philosophy at this time. You deceive none about who you're. Anybody who cares to read would spot you from a mile away, but it's not for supporting truthful and well researched piece, but for greatly misunderstood facts about hospital positions/officers, situation of thing is the US and CA in particular, and finally how the doctor has been at the forefront of minimizing the pharmacist. All these are not true, but you have spent about 10 pages posting articles that paint a convenient(albiet false) picture for your followers. |

dumodust:. I do not see much future in mere diagnosis as the match of technological innovation is beginning to take a shine off it. Computers are in the cusp of replacing some of the drudgery involved... so those years of "cultural apprentice" as you aptly put it will lie inside a chip less than the size of the human hair. The medicine as we know it will be unrecognizable in a few years.. what people in the field should be focusing is on the art of medicine that is "The art of medicine—the art of dealing with the unanticipated, unwanted, and less-than-optimal—can’t be programmed into a computer and, for that matter, can’t be taught in medical school but real life experiences. |

kmariko: .i feel no machine can replace human beings in making a diagnosis.... you mentioned the unanticipated, the less than optimal, may unnoticed things pt didnt didnt even complain about... that is exactly my point... i have patients that come talking about one thing but their real problem is something else they are too embarrassed to talk about, there are emotional, psychological aspects, encouraging pts is part of therapy, the human feel and empathy is why most of my patients want to see me again, and again... not just rigidly responding like a computer and dishing out drugs. showing that you care and counselling is 90% of care, most pts should 'feel' better about what they have after leaving the consulting room. medicine is changing rapidly...yes... but computers have not replaced humans yet. we have robot assisted surgeries, computerised machines for investigations BUT they are still under human control in med school you will see all these aspects on real humans in teaching hospital, no simulation... you get to talk to pts, get corrected over and over again, clerk, present, examine... then you are shown how by very old colleagues. community medicine takes you out to rural areas etc knowledge doesnt fall from the sky and history and scenarios will surely repeat themselves. even lawyers bank on old cases, the rulings and experiences of their predecessors to make decisions. that is why even consultants are in grades depending on their level of experience... it is only learnt and accumulated over many years of special training... |

Opusy:Before they go back to work, some of their demands should be addressed. I will never allow any other health worker order than a medical doctor to treat any member of my family. I have had some silly experience with non doctors. |

Opusy: You are not informed and you are talking like if you have the facts, the major problem with nigerians. I didn't get mg car from the govt neither was housing provided, I manage my pay with some side jobs to make ends meet and if I talk about my pay, u will laugh but that is not the issue in this strike. The best paid govt workers are in nnpc/petroleum ministry, judiciary and many other examples, not health sector |

hydeka: I just like the pharmacists. Their fate is not tied to the hospital. Why struggle with doctors in the hospital all your life when you can open your own community pharmacy, do drug imports or work in a pharm. company/industry? If the doctors don't want you guys there, simply walk out of the cage. You have better opportunities outside the hospital.Even with all those opportunities you still find pharmacists in hospitals, shouldn't you ask why? Pharmacists are well trained in patient care (which as we all know doctors lack) and this entails ensuring that every patient gets it right with drug therapy. So my friend they stay back to ensure that doctors accurately make use of their tools (drugs) so as to avoid uunnecessary complications in the patient because, as earlier stated, their ultimate goal is to IMPROVE PATIENT'S QUALITY OF LIFE. I so love Pharmacists!!! |

I so love Pharmacists!!! Nigerians and their ignorance. What is with the competition? If you think pharmacists can do better, that is your prerogative. In places where laws are actually enforced, a pharmacist will function in that capacity alone. And if there is any pharmacist or any other person for that matter that believes he has the capacity to practice medicine better than our Nigerian Docs(and is also not proud), there is no law against delirium. However, to practice medicine, you have to go to med school and get an MBBS. Its that simple. No shortcuts in life. |

Mbediogu: Thanks Dr. Eilogie for your well researched write up. You have shown the material doctors are made of. Is anybody still in doubt why things are still going the other way in our health sector? Why the most basic drugs must be imported from India? Professionals and vocational are leaving undone what they are trained and paid to do; seeking to bastardize the art of patient/doctor relationship by dilution. I have been in medical practice for 33yrs and I must say this development is catastrophic. I blame the Pharacists squarely for this ugly development; for giving leadership to an unholy alliance to pull down doctors. Let us watch. Choi! this one na personal beef |

Watch this video and judge for yourselves. If anyone does not accept the glaring truth after watching this video, then there is no need wasting our time arguing because that person has blatantly refused to harken to good reason. I rest my case!. http://lm.?u=http%3A%2F%2Fshar.es%2FNFfBs&h=mAQGrsove&enc=AZMW5STiFBnjaUUdru5gC2a6Bt0eU9ZMqfFynQiStymv7jtSy8oQ4ZCj5wgDRpF6Y9PCiHcHybN9ZbsawjFA0qTGY9FV-qYpGVRbczWCkks0Ez6VrAxfFLKh_kv57fxFaPv91jaz6wK7INtBjET_8Hch&s=1 |
