Didier Drogba’s return to Chelsea was broken by reliable French newspaper L’Equipe early Sunday evening UK time.

Didier Drogba is returning to Chelsea and will sign a one- year-deal at Stamford Bridge this week, with an option to
become part of the coaching staff when he hangs up his boots.

The 36-year-old is a free agent having spent 18 months at Galatasaray and will return to Chelsea where he played with such distinction between 2004 and 2012.

For Jose Mourinho this is a great deal as it adds a striker to his squad who knows the Premier League so well and is a huge fan of “The Special One”.

Didier Drogba’s last kick for Chelsea was the penalty at the Allianz Arena to win the Champions League in 2012.

After the departures of Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o, Chelsea needed to strengthen up front and it looks like Drogba will be the main back-up to Diego Costa.
