Fellow nairalanders it has always been a mystery to me since childhood how pencil sharpeners stop working when air is blown into it with your mouth... Pls any explanation from anybody here as to the reason behind this mystery?

Introduction of moisture that aid rusting hence causing bluntness of the sharpener

I wonder if science can explain this Or maybe, the warm air makes the edge a little bit blunt? Who knows. undecided

Lolllz.... what's so scientific about it?

Simple study shows you spit into the sharpener while trying to blow in it. As you know moisture/ water from your spit makes the blade rust and become blunt.

A simple rule of water on metal which equals rusting.

Rust is a product a chemical reaction, d effect is not noticed immediately

Well, maybe You didn't use a sharpener when You were much Younger.

Blown in Air causes bluntness in a sharpener, almost immediately.
