Getting Counseling in Nigeria can be a bit on the hard side. When you need someone to talk to about various crisis in your life, from depression to loneliness to thinks not working. You find that you either have to go to a church or your parents or friends, when you would have preffered to do it quietly or meet a shrink like its done in developed nations.

Some may asked what a Shrink is ? The English dictionary defines it as a psychiatrist a medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.

We all know how the system works in developed country. A persons feels he has been wronged or hurt and needs someone to talk to, to help them out of the trauma the effect of his situation has created, So that they may go back to living a normal life.

In Nigeria its usually a Psychiatrist but because the profession has not taken off as such as in these areas the position is being filled by the family,Church and friends. Which most times might not be the right people to talk to about the specific situation or trauma. While the idea of going to one any of the Psychiatric hospitals for basic care, will look like over kill for the individual.

Internet has been a big help in providing an avenue for people going through depression and some other cases, as it has provide a situation where people can get together to talk about their problems and aid each other with solution.
