I think it is common with Ibos,but am not sure..Do any body have an Idea of the meaning, purpose, and relevance of "August Meeting" .

It originally meant, lexiconially, a very important meeting.
But our sisters up east had altered the meaning, although their use of it is still somewhat related to the original meaning, it differs a bit on a meticulous review - they go for important communal meetings in August.

"AUGUST MEETING" is a gathering of all the Igbo women both far and near for re-union...It is a meeting that takes place in the month of August as the name suggests
