At this point, I'm sure you're coming up with your own reasoning. STOP THAT.
All new testament writings (as that is all they are, writings), are based upon Old Testament SCRIPTURE (because that is the word of the Most High)

So let us get understanding.

Zechariah 7:12 "The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah."

The glory of Judah is her sister/brother, the Northern Kingdom (sometimes referred to as the head tribe of that Kingdom, Ephraim).

Isaiah 11:13 "The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim."

Now you see.
So, you should then understand that, as a gentile is anyone that is not a Jew, this term can also be used for northern Israel.

Now you know this verse is not talking about other nations, but Ephraim. God has never death with the heathen as a collective, nor will he.

I don't believe in scriptures. I also don't consider too highly the authority of a figure who requires that I simply accept the word of another human being without first implementing an objective measure of validation.

It says to the Jew first because they are the natural branch of the Holy root. They refused to believe Christ as the way to obtain God's righteousness, so they were cut off from the tree. Their unbelief gave me, a gentile, the grace to be engrafted on the olive tree and partake of the root and fatness.
