GentleMimi: The change of a thing na something else. To avoid wahala, especially on monday mornings,i make sure i get adequate change over the weekend. Some crazy conductors will just marry you off to a total stranger. Not funny, especially when running late. But sometimes if i enter a bus,i ask peeps around if they hv change, collect it and give the conductor a larger amount, saying,''money for four''...or ''three of us''. That way,hin craze go dey minimal

May i add ''Exam special centres''...even some parents pay for such. Chai!

Uniform men who ought to protect, actually collecting N20 (i heard it has been elevated to N100)

Hypocrisy..oh yes! Nigerians are hypocrites. Reason why we carry religion on our heads but our lives, society and characters are far from what we preach. We depend on God to sort out our mess while we sit on our ars:es,waiting for a miracle.

Naija! No dulling. Lol. Everybody is in a hurry, especially in Lagos. Hussling tins!
well said... Get to the bus stop now and you'll ask, if we sleep at all

jaybel: Yes the almighty corporate begging has
suddenly become a national malaise. You
see people begging at the bus stops with
reckless abandon. In some cases you find
the same persons playing out the same
scripts all the time. ‘’Excuse me sir, I need
some money to complete my fare’’. For
how long will you keep completing our
fare? Don’t get me wrong, they are
genuine people who could be in a fix and
definitely needs help. But you and I know
that some Nigerians adopt this measure
as a means for daily bread. Another brand
of this is the series of begging among
security men in corporate offices like
banks. There is almost no bank you
walked into without a security guard
approaching you for money. You here
‘’anything for the boys’’, ‘’guy give me kola
na’’, ‘’anything for the weekend’’, or giving
you a hand shake unnecessarily.
Do you agree or have more experience to
share?

Oh my God I spent 3weeks when in Nigeria I was in Port Harcourt and Lagos, the practice of Security personnel asking me for money drives me crazy...everywhere banks, churches, My hotels, arhhh

2. NO CHANGE
Those that frequent petrol filling stations
would agree with me on this. Purchase
fuel for the sum of N1,800 and instead
getting a balance of N200, the attendant
quickly says no change. Why is it so
difficult to get your balance after a given
purchase? The other strand of this “No
Change’’ drama, is for those that patronize
public transportation popularly called
danfo and molues. You either split your
big currency into smaller denominations
or else, you remain stranded at the bus
stop. The usual practice is a loud noise
saying ‘’no change oh’’ What happened to
good customer service? Am I supposed to
look for change for the bus conductor?

The no change one is simple.....the CBN is not printing enough small denomination notes because doing so may promote inflation....because of rising prices...an increased number of small denomination notes=more money in circulation= more inflation.

Also, printing more small naira notes means that CBN's printing budget would be too high...so they save cash by printing the high denomination notes.

I don't see any change....unless we reduce inflation by improving our manufacturing base, and ending our dependence on oil.

Happened to me once at a bank....the poor guy came in pretending to be a customer...had even filled out a deposit slip...and then approached me with ''excuse me''. Iignored him. He then tried the same thing with a woman few minutes later...and she complained to security...who escorted him out.

Then at one of my places of work...I had them disturbing me outside

Oh well....blame the oil dependent economy that stifles job creation.

Tolexander: Watching both left and right before crossing a lane of the multilane road.

It is abnormal to watch both left and right in this kinda lane cos normally, cars can't be moving in both direction of the lane. But in nigeria u just have to watch both directions cos of those car-missing-lane
lol I dy guilty of dIs one wella esp BRT lane...hahaha

i've not really experienced the 'no change' thing at filling stations because i normally buy 1000, 2000, 3000 etc.
The time i experience this is when i try to buy petty stuff like recharge cards etc,i was at post utme center over the weekend . i needed to get a 100 glo card to quickly make a call and i couldn't buy one to buy even with 500 in my hand- i visited close to 4 recharge vendors and non were willing to sell to me. Its not my fault that ATM dispenses only 500, 1000 notes.

All these happen in 9ja because of our corrupt mentality. An average 9jarian knows he can do wrong and get away with it simple. That's why I say for all those who care to listen we need to change parties for sanity to return to this country. A famous scientist once said "doing one thing and expecting a different result is nothing short of madness" we have had PDP for the past 15yrs with nothing to show for it, dnt you thing its time for change?
Re: Top 6 Abnormalities That Are Normal In Nigeria by UjSizzle(f): 7:21am On Aug 04, 2014
The issue of change is just crazy. Everywhere you go someone is screaming "kosi change" haba! I have to get the ushers on Sunday at church to give me change before going home...it's that bad.
Shops will tell you they have no change, but when you offer to come back later for it change immediately materializes.
Then conductors will just pair you with one Jack you don't know and ask you two to share money.

Then those corporate beggars. Op you're so right about this transport fare thing. I remember helping one dude at the bus stop one day, and the next day I saw him again asking for fares. Even some women come with children to play the same trick. When I was still in school, a certain man kept begging for the 4yr duration! One day we were having lectures in my final year and this fella came to beg again. Students took offence asking the man to come back after lectures and this dude begin vex o. He said, "If you want to help me, help me. I still have to go to Oko Poly, Nsukka, Nsugbe today!" shocked Nna eh that was the last time we bothered to let him talk. Imagine! Even those forming deaf and dumb only to be caught actually speaking.
God will help us.

I also find the issue of time very annoying. If you expect people to be somewhere at a said time, then don't keep them waiting. This African time problem needs to end.
