The Liberian Government on Thursday apologised to Nigeria over the importation of the deadly Ebola Virus by the Liberian-born American, Patrick Sawyer.
Sawyer arrived Lagos on July 20 from Lome but died five days after he was admitted into a hospital on Obalende when he showed Ebola Virus symptoms.
The Liberian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs , Mr Nurudeem Mohammed, told journalists in Abuja that President Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson, was deeply sorry that Sawyer brought the virus to Nigeria. He said that the deceased was under surveillance in Liberia but that he sneaked into Lagos.
Mohammed said, "The Liberia President has personally called to apologise on the unfortunate development.
"She equally apologised that Sawyer ignored medical adviced and escaped out of Liberia."

Liberia has always dragged Nigeria into her problem. Nigeria committed billions to help resolved a Liberian civil war. maybe Liberia assumed again that if Nigeria gets involved we will help them as usual . unfortunately the same ecomog that fought for them is being overwhelmed by book haram so Nigeria itself need help. pls ambassador.... help us to beg your country people that we can't help them now. As a private hospital owner in Lagos, I am deeply worried. should this virus remain uncontained.... God forbid!!" There needs to be more effective organization and communication on the part of both countries.
The guy didn't "sneak" into Lagos through thick forests and villages. He flew on an airplane and went through the airport.
If he was truly under surveillance, airport security officials should be able to obtain the information and identify him.
