Dear Nairalanders, got an information today that SSCE certificate expires after 5yrs (of non usage as per admision)expecialy for Fedral Universitties. Can anybody comfirm to me if this information is true and the source?

Yes, it is true. If you don't use your SSCE result to gain admission within five years, no university in Nigeria will admit you.

personaly, i have not heard of that too. Accoring to my source, if you have SSCE certificate and fail to get admision within 5 years, you cant use that certificate for admission into federal universities in Nigeria again. I equaly think I absurd.

so how do they calculate their five years

my waec doesn't have literature. but i need it for my course (unilag)

2003-now is how many years?

I have never had and I don't think there is anything like expiration of WAEC or NECO results.

Now, how can we confirm this?

sorry pple will neva learn to stop multiplyin issues that aint real, abeg make una fear God. i know a particular guy who gained admission into unilag in 2006 and has result of 1998 with grades like A2 in chemistry or r they proposing to uni's to start that trend?

Just as Unilag has its policy on one-sitting thing so do other schools on other issues like expiration and NECO/WAEC combination. Some on higher subjects grades. I witnessed an incident in FUT Minna in 1999, a guy from Lagos was denied registering because that time he had 1994 SSCE and I heard ABSU pegs theirs 10yrs. So it is true but varies. Just go ask first from the school authority of admission office of the school you want to attend.Safe.

Good. I think we are progressing on this issue. Unilag has no restriction at least we presume for now because of our guys illustration. Ok. some institution peg it at 10 yrs. So far so good, noting is heard of this 5 years stuf. If you have any information about any school, pls share with us amke ppl no go commit o.
