4G LTE Internet Launched In Ghana by Wale112(m): 2:25pm On Aug 20, 2014
Surfline has officially launched Ghana’s first 4G LTE network in Accra and Tema, giving both consumers and business internet speeds that are ten times faster than 3G services currently on offer.

Marking the historic occasion, Surfline – the only telecoms company owned 100% by Ghanaians – announced a tasty, limited launch offer: free devices and double bonus for life, for all new customers.

Less than 20% of Ghanaians currently use the internet; a statistic not lost on Surfline, who believe this represents an opportunity to inspire businesses, families and students to embrace the internet and achieve and experience much more, in less time.

Speaking to Citi Business news at the launch, Head of Marketing Communications at Surfline, Rosey Fynn said “with strong reliable network, we will actually be able to increase the internet penetration to get Ghana to be a part of a connected world.”

She hinted to Citi Business News that her outfit will, next year, roll out their services to the Ashanti and Western regions.

The move forms part of an aggressive expansion campaign she indicates is to position Surfline as the first choice internet service provider in Ghana.

“Our plan is to rollout nationwide and do that quickly. Part of our license regulation requires us to and our goal is to be across the rest of the country in a couple of years”, she said

Dr Yaw Akoto, Chief Executive Officer for Surfline Limited said: “Ghanaians are disillusioned with the internet services that are currently on offer, because they have not experienced what was promised.

“Surfline’s 4G LTE service has been created with a single-minded focus on data, which means our network quality will not be compromised. With our service, customers are always guaranteed a 4G LTE service and nothing less.”

“As Ghanaians ourselves, we believe that people living and working in Ghana deserve the best. Across the world, people are enjoying super-fast internet speeds powered by 4G LTE and Surfline is proud to bring this into Ghana for the first time; and for Ghanaians to experience the difference this brings”, said Dr Yaw Akoto. He also revealed that Surfline would continue its network rollout across Ghana in the coming months.

The benefits of using the Surfline 4G LTE service are astonishing: 100mb files can be downloaded in seconds; films that take four hours to download can be downloaded in just 15 minutes; streaming music and standard videos takes less than a second to buffer and 20mb games can be downloaded in 25 seconds.

Surfline has also unveiled a matchless shopping experience at its flagship shop in Osu (near Firefly) and has also opened further shops in Accra at East Legon (American House), where customers can experience and purchase the latest 4G LTE-enabled devices, SIM cards and top-up vouchers. Surfline kiosks have also been established across Accra and Tema, where customers can purchase Surfline SIM cards and top-up vouchers.

A zero-rated website: www.surflinegh.com has also been introduced, where customers can access all the information they need on Surfline’s services, buy data packages and top-up credit on their accounts with debit cards. Customers can find out much more through the website and Surfline GH page on Facebook.

Surfline’s world-class 4G LTE network was developed; and is supported by global partners including: IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Tech Mahindra and Alcatel-Lucent.

Ghana has the fastest internet connection in Africa as you said but one of the lowest penetration in the world! Ghana internet Penetration is just over 14% while that of Nigeria is 29%. What's the point of a fast internet when very few have access to it?

Penetration is not about population, if it is morroco and Tunisia wouldn't have made that list. Ghana population is three times bigger than that of Tunisia yet Tunisia have more internet penetration than Ghana. Morroco is about the same population with Ghana yet it is among the top three even better than South Africa with a population of over 40million.

When other countries are taking giant leaps that would see to the overall growth of the economy, the Giant of Africal under Jonathan's government has chosen to chase shadows recalculating GDP, attending Nollywood movie screening to assess the "torpedoes" of married women, and attend unveiling of tissue papers produced by a school girl, looking desperately for any little proof of the gains of the admin to latch onto before Valentine's Day comes knocking!!

What a shame!! angry
