GentleMimi: I'm very sure my ears and eyes were functioning to fullest capacity when i heard and read abt the release of such funds. Now story don change. This is pathetic!
Unfortunately, when this ebola ish is over, everyone will want to take the glory, claiming to have curbed the crisis. The real heroes are the late Doc. Adadevoh and her health team, also the few volunteers at the isolation centre. I will also applaud the state govt for quick response. It is really sad. I pray we never encounter this again. I got an ''internal info'' that Adadevoh's hospital was responsible for providing the food and drugs for its staff at the isolation center.
But if i may ask, what has the government learnt from this? Have measures been put in place to avoid further future occurence? Facilities and infrastructures to help contain ebola? Or are we still exposed and helpless? I do not think we've learnt from the ongoing ebola battle.

That's not the bad thing. The sad part is that next week, people like you will go back to hailing the same FG. After all Jonathan can do no wrong in your eyes and even if he does there is always an excuse for that.

Sincere9gerian: What is wrong with this minister of health? Why not use the funds to set up world class isolation centres with well trained staff for hemorrhagic diseases or other highly infectious deadly diseases in select existing FG tertiary hospitals? Why not use part of the funds to support research on ebola and other hemorrhagic diseases? What about procurement of adequate barrier nursing tools and PPE in the existing in the hospitals? This minister should better get his acts together.

I guess the minister made this pronouncement because he feels the current outbreak of ebola has been effectively contained, but while that maybe true, we should begin now to prepare for the next outbreak of ebola, other hemorrhagic diseases or any other highly infectious and deadly disease. We should be proactive for once.

that fund could be used to setup a world class medical center for transplants like kidney, heart etc.
instead of public office holder travelling abroad for treatment.

I am the NUMBER ONE supporter of GEJ govt but that does not stop me from criticizing (constructively) actions or inactions of either the president himself or any of his appointees. If APC e-warriors have been engaged in constructive criticisms, there would not have been all the e-fights on this platform.

So basically, You would clamour for his return to presidency next year abi? Only an irredeemably mad man would do that.

Is he a government property?

Anyway, I have not exempted him. He was once a governor and so should have built at least one world class hospital in Lagos

1.9 billi on ebola is misplaced priority

1.9 billi on cars is also misplaced priority

1.9 billi on health sector is the only meaningful sentence .

now 1.9 billi is nothing compared to what the countries health system lacks.

Kirinwa:

You are very foolish if you think the threat of ebola is over.
There is what is called Budget allocation for different ministries of which they could use to buy cars if that's what they need.

NoW this money was given specifically for checking the ebola epidemic only for this useless Minister to divert it for another use altogether announcing that there's no new case of ebola so they should now shut all isolation centres abi?

I wish EBOLA will catch this man so that he will understand the implication of what he just did! angry

and now there is a rumour of ebola in port harcourt

Sorry to say. Goodluck and the minister did nothing but make statements. The real kudos go to the health workers and Lagos state government for timely intervention and release of funds. The funds promised by the president is yet to get to Lagos.

The much anticipated drama starts. I see chukwu as a pawn in the hand of the chess master. Ebola outbreak was the much awaited opportunity to get their hands on additional funds that can be siphoned.
By now, one would expect the hospitals to be flooded with protective equipments for health workers. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
I can only hope that this isn't true.

Can you imagine, of all the experiences from the ebola out break this is all they could think of. Its a big shame to the minister. Why not set up a research center to come up with appropriate answers to ebola and other viruses and possibly reach out to other African countries instead of always looking for which developed country to buy from.

What is the problem with people in authority with buying cars?
It is like buying cars is the latest fashion for those in government.

The additional money released was meant to assist with fighting the deadly disease, yet the Minister is talking nonsense about buying cars and drugs. This is a sad story if it is true.
Last week some people were complaining that the funds is not getting to them, yet PDP rabblers turned it into a political issue, blaming APC.

I am sure this government will not do anything to the Health Officer if this is true.

If all of you GEJ blind supporters can come to these realizations then there is a ray of hope. You guys failed to realize not all that sees and complain about the numerous failures of this man is an APC member nay a Tinubu fan. Most of us know and sees the failures on each sides but also acknowledge the full buck stops at the president's table and adequate changes are his to make. And that is the sole reason we keep the heat on him and look as if we have nothing against the Tinubus of this world. Anyway, just keep acknowledging the ineptitude of this administration that has gradually led us to a pariah state and praise them where they do well and the country will be better for it. also encourage your partners in crime to be doing same.
Here's giving you a gradual welcome to this side of the divide. Na from clap dem dey enter dance!
