Ribadu Has No Political Value, Edwin Clark Tells PDP. by Nobody: 4:27pm On Aug 28, 2014
Elder statesman and a former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, has warned the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party against granting waiver to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Clark, who spoke at a press conference that was held at his residence in Abuja on Thursday, said there was nothing to celebrate Ribadu for, saying the former presidential candidate has no political value.
Ribadu recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the ruling party with the hope of contesting for the party’s governorship primary in home state of Adamawa.
But the former minister, in an open letter he addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, which he read to journalists, said there was nothing positive Ribadu would bring to the ruling party.
He said, “What, really, is our party receiving so joyfully? What is the political value of this emerging treachery, the well-established bone-marrow trademark of the man, Ribadu?
“In 2011 election, Ribadu ran for President on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, lost at his family home polling booth, and also his ward, scored a mere 32 votes in Yola, and 32,786 total in Adamawa, against Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s 344,526 and President Goodluck Jonathan’s 508,314.”
Apart from having no political value, Clark added that those sponsoring Ribadu are political enemies of President Jonathan, adding that at the end, Ribadu would betray President Jonathan.
He said even when the President saved him from public disgrace by converting his dismissal to retirement as assistant inspector general of police, Ribadu has refused to show gratitude to the President.
Surprisingly, Clark said that even Ribadu’s friends in the ruling party have failed to celebrate his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP.
He alleged that the defection was a clearly written script by the opposition against the President.
“Again, note, please, that danger to Mr. President is danger to the party and the entire country, including those in any way in sympathy with the opposition in any manner,” Clark added.
Clark wondered why Ribadu decided to team up with a leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who he had accused of corruption while in office, to work against the ruling party.
He also said the former anti-corruption crusader was known for raising false alarm against governors elected on the platform of the party in the past while serving as the chairman of the EFCC.
He said Ribadu was also involved in the impeachment and attempted impeachment of many governors in the past.
He therefore warned the leadership of the party against granting Ribadu any waiver to enable him contest the party’s governorship primary of the party in the state.

The biggest mistake APC made the last time out was to field Ribadu as its presidential candidate.

It should never have happened.

Good riddance, i rejoice with APC as Ribadu is a lightweight politically.

It was proven that he is not influential afterall.

I disagree with Mr Clark on this one, Ribadu it must be, he's the next governor of Adamawa state weather you like it or not.

Ribadu is only following the age old conception that there's no permanent enemy in politics, only permanent interest.
