YAWA versus ABIDEMI

*hands abidemi a samurai sword, gives yawa a pankere stick.*

I remember when i had a problem wt forms and my2cents helped me out by pasting the whole answer on nland.
though i had to figure out some stuffs as his answer was towards submitting to a DB.

In short, i want to also help y'all out there so get ur pen and paper, i'll just forget u're my competitor wink

First things first, design the form on a page ending wt .php e.g.

<form action = "" method = "post">
</form>

action="" means the page submits to itself, while method is how it submits.

Next add fields
<form action = "" method = "post">
Name: <input type = "text" name="username">
<input type = "submit" name="submit">
</form>

The name="username" part is important as its what php will use.

Now that u have the form, all you need is the php code to process it.

At the top of the page, above everything else, enter(I hope my competitor doesn't see this oh. im fighting wt my inner bizman):

<?php

if ($_POST['submit']) {

mail('toaddress e.g.segebee1@yahoo.co.uk', 'subject here', 'message here');

echo "mail sent.":
}

?>

that's all!

Yawa, u cld explain cos i hv to go now

Nigeria's official website shutdown
By Everest Amaefule, Abuja
Published: Thursday, 25 Dec 2008

The Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has lamented the shutting down of the nation's official website – www.nigeria.gov.ng – as a result of the inability of government officials to maintain the national flagship.

Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili

Akunyili, who spoke at the first meeting she had with heads of parastatals under the ministry in Abuja late on Tuesday, also gave all agencies in the ministry a deadline of March 2009 to establish their own websites.

She also barred officials of the ministry and the parastatals from receiving free telephone lines and cable televisions, directing those that already had such gifts to return them before the end of January 2009.

Noting that the incidence of poor telecommunications services has continued, the minister directed the Nigerian Communications Commission to monitor and report quality of service parameters on regular weekly basis.

She said, "Today, we live in an information age where access to information should be made readily available, and yet information about Nigeria from Nigeria is not easily accessible. I find it disheartening that the Ministry of Information and Communications does not have a website.

"It is also very discomforting that our flagship corporation, Nigerian Television Authority, does not have a website. It is unfortunate that the official government website www.nigeria.gov.ng, which was launched in 2005, and recoded 1.3 million visits in its first year, making it one of the most viable national websites in the world, has been shut down for many months. This website, which serves as a gateway to Nigeria, must be reactivated.

"Every parastatal must have an active and vibrant website up and running before the end of March 2009, and I am ready to support you to make sure that this happens. On our part, before the end of March 2009, this ministry will create a vibrant website that will enable people around the world to find everything they need to know about Nigeria in a click. This will be an interactive website that will allow people to ask questions and get answers. It will also provide polling opportunities as an avenue to know the feelings and desires of our people on various issues."

On telecommunications, Akunyili said it was general knowledge that services rendered by telecom operators were poor, adding that most Nigerians were unhappy and expressing displeasure over the services of mobile telecom operators.

The minister said the incidences of dropped calls, poor voice signal quality and poor reception have caused unnecessary financial burdens for Nigerians as they carry multiple handsets to be able to connect to working networks.

If you think u are sick of 9gerian sites because of contact page,
Check http://sict-ng.com that an example
Re: Nigerian Sites And The Lack Of Contact Forms by yawatide(f): 6:41pm On Dec 27, 2008
GoodMuyis,

Nice to see you have a contact form that actually validates cool

Question:
Why would the form, upon successful submission, take me to a white page that says 'Thank you for visiting our site, we shall get back to you as soon as possible, " with no semblance to the "mother site"?

Just curious
Re: Nigerian Sites And The Lack Of Contact Forms by Nobody: 11:10pm On Dec 27, 2008
Well, that is shameful. Guys if u need a contact form, just tell me - i will even create one for free. Just that i did not think it was that difficult.
You can surely get alot of contact forms online. I am an ajax specialist. This is shameful, come to think of it, i have written and rewritten alot of scripts,
the last time i created a contact form was about 6 years ago when i was still using freeservers and their email form sender,
I am very much guilty for that as well, though i write alot of scripts, i do not bother with contact form.
If you take a look at http://www.ds.mwebng.net/ - a new scripts archives i am just working on - has some nice scripts right now and is almost entirely based on ajax - loads fast and all that.
Also look at http://www.tacgsosa.org/ both the registration and login form validate and submit with ajax, page will only change if login or registration is successful, and now take a look at the contact page: just text, is that lack of skill or am i just a typical 9ja boy after learning so much?
Well, guys, na only God go help us o. And come to think of it, none of my clients ever asked for contact forms before, not even the more sophisticated ones. But i will change that very soon. Thanks for bringin this to attention. I will post some samples here very soon after publishing them on my script site.
Re: Nigerian Sites And The Lack Of Contact Forms by Nobody: 11:13pm On Dec 27, 2008
And i have seen http://www.sict-ng.com/ - the contact form looks great - all it needs is some javascript validation and ajax submission - so
you can fill the form, submit and get the result - message sent, without leaving the page.
At least that is something. I have a very nice javascript/ajax form validator class, i want to post it, but i am quite lazy to document right now - anyway, watch out on www.ds.mwebng.net.
C ya guys l8 and compliments of the season.

Why are you always trying to draw our attention away from this forum? You make no posts without referencing us to your website. It makes your posts get boring especially to me.

Make posts and just reference your website and whatever on your signature. That is a better idea I guess.

Thanks for your information that I'm saying total rubbish. But hey, watch what you say because if actually you call for what you cannot defend, you'll probably be loosing you integrity here. I guess I gave you a simple correction or an idea and you feel it not good enough or that you are ahead of the game. What do I tell you? Does how long you stay here matter at all even in the real world? Men, you'd better talked about achievements.

By the way, I'm better than this. Point you should note is "include and use your web address as your signature and not letting it around on all threads. Do things maturely. If you say you are old here, you should have known how to do things. Why wait to be told.
