LIVE UPDATE

National team coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba is hoping mother nature will keep the rain away when Bafana Bafana hosts Nigeria in Cape Town on Wednesday night.
Mashaba feels South African players typically struggle to perform in wet conditions.
"There are things we don't have control on, like the weather," he says. "People will tell you we are going to play under the heat, even the opposition will play in that heat too.
"Let's make an example of the Sudan game... why did they change the game to evening? Because they also feel the heat."
Mashaba adds:"Our players are not good when it's wet weather. We struggle playing under wet weather and I can challenge anyone on that. But all different weather I'm comfortable, thats the only weather I'm worried about, when it's wet."
No rain is forecast for this evening in the Mother City.
Bafana will play their second 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the continental champions at Cape Town Stadium, with kick-off at 20h00. Mashaba's men beat Sudan 3-0 last week, while the Super Eagles lost 3-2 to Congo at home.

If we do win this match, somebody should do us all a favor by dropping the link to that website where they (South Africans) were bad mouthing us the other day (when we lost to congo) so that we can return the favor.

Bafana Bafana VS Nigeria AFCON 2015 Qualifier - Preveiw

SA's boys in green and gold face off against the reigning Africa Cup of Nations champs at the Cape Town Stadium

In a bid to compete in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Bafana Bafana will go toe-to-toe with current champs Nigeria in what promises to be a riveting Group A qualifying match at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 10 September 2014. Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm Nigeria Time and this match will be live .

Following a tumultuous first half of 2014 that was laced with more losses than victories and Minister of Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula's insults, South Africa's national football team is looking to regain their former glory with a brand new man at the helm.

Former footballer and recently appointed Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim 'Shakes' announced a 24-man squad made up of a mix of rising stars, young blood and experienced players

A day after Bafana had started their campaign, Nigeria took to the field for their opening group match at home to Congo with a potential Fifa ban for administrative issues still hanging over their football federation. How and when that ongoing saga will be resolved remains to be seen but after a World Cup finals campaign which was impressive enough, the Super Eagles crashed 3-2 at home at the weekend. Given the Super Eagles had made it through their World Cup 2014 group before a gallant display in bowing out to France (2-0) in the Round of 16, the home defeat to Congo was a real eye opener. Nigeria do still have Stephen Keshi at the coaching helm, albeit on a temporary basis, but another defeat here would put their chances of defending their AFCON crown in Morocco next year in some jeopardy. On the plus side for Keshi, Nigeria do have a dominant record against Bafana.

Head to Head:

19/01/14 CHAN Nigeria 3-1 South Africa

14/08/13 Int Friendly South Africa 0-2 Nigeria

06/09/08 WCQ South Africa 0-1 Nigeria

01/06/08 WCQ Nigeria 2-0 South Africa

31/01/04 AFCON Nigeria 4-0 South Africa

01/02/00 AFCCON Nigeria 2-0 South Africa

Match Result

South Africa 15/10 WSB

Draw 43/20 WSB

Nigeria 39/20 WSB

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will travel to South Africa to face the local Bafana Bafana team in the second matchday of the AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

South Africa has won their first game against Sudan in Khartoum with the score of 3 – 0, sending a warning to all teams in the group.

Nigeria has started the campaign defending their title with a 3 – 2 loss at home against Congo, and they need to catch up in this game if they want to keep their chances alive.

Omeruo caused the goal with his weak head pass from the start.

Absolutely. However, Oboabona could have cleaned up his teammates screw up, either by playing the ball into touch or fouling the opponent. Sadly, he did neither. Our defence was just in shambles on that day.

Watch closely, he was at the blind side and also tried to foul the guy, but the guy held to his gun.

South Africa 4 - Nigayria 0

with what i saw on the face of Keshi at the training ground tongue lashing all his players yesterday
for losing to Congo (note he came in a day after the players have settled in)
i think the man is in a war mood (of cause is contract depends on this match)

i dont think the eagles will take it easy with the Bafana Bafana
i foresea Nigeria playing desperately and if they score early
then its over for Bafana again

I expect a resounding victory from the Super Eagles, Anything short of that...Keshi should forget about his 5M/Month.
