It emerged on Tuesday that each of the gubernatorial aspirants on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform in Oyo State for the 2015 general election would pay a whooping N16 million as nomination fee. As at the last count, no fewer than 12 chieftains of the party had signified their intention to occupy the exalted office being presently occupied by Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Among the aspirants are former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Senate Leader, Teslim Kolawole Folarin, former Minister of Special Duties and Sports, Taoheed Adedoja and Ambassador to the Kingdom of Jordan, Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja. Others are former Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Soji Adejumo, an entrepreneur, Seyi Makinde, former Minister of Special Duties, Wole Oyelese and former state deputy governor, Azeem Gbolarumi.

Also on the list are former local government chairman, Kehinde Olaosebikan, business mogul, Olufemi Babalola, a US based physician, Azeez Adeduntan and Isaac Owolabi Babalola, who was Commissioner for Health under Alao-Akala. A source in the state chapter of the party hinted that each gubernatorial aspirant may cough out nothing less than N16 million, the breakdown of which is N11 million and another N5 million for both the national headquarters and state branch respectively. Already, the state PDP said on Tuesday that it had begun the sale of expression of interest forms for aspirants seeking to be elected as governor, senators, members of the House of Representatives and state House of Assembly, calling on interested party members to avail themselves of the opportunity.

According to the chairman of the party in the state, Yinka Taiwo, the expression of interest form for the post of governor will cost N5 million, while a senatorial aspirant will pay N2.5 million, with aspirants for the House of Representatives and House of Assembly bound to pay N1 million and N250, 000 respectively.

To me I believe a one term fee is far cheaper and better than 5 million monthly re-payments for FOUR YEARS to Tinubu from the constituency allowance.

{5m x 12 months x 4 Yrs) = 240M NGN

5m x 12 months = 60,000,000.00 x 4 Years = #240,000,000.00 per candidate depending on portfolio

Tinubu Ittaqillah - fear God ooooooooo angry

Why will someone pay #16m for a post he is not even sure he will win....... Nobody enters a business without the plans of making profits..... I am sure he will first remove 500% interest on the #16m from the state account before thinking of his plans for the state if elected.
