Ambali bags VFPAN 'Meritorious Award of Excellence'
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof.
AbdulGaniyu Ambali, added yet another feather to his cap
penultimate Thursday (August 21, 2014) as he was honoured
by the Kwara State Branch of the Video Film Producers
Association of Nigeria (VFPAN) with the 'Meritorious Award of
Excellence'.
Presenting the Award to Prof. Ambali at a grand ceremony at
the Mandate Hall, Adeta, Ilorin, VFPAN's outgoing Governor-
General, Mr. Raphael Afolabi Ogedengbe, said the award was
in “recognition of the Vice-Chancellor's valuable contributions
to human development at the University of Ilorin in particular
and the nation as a whole.”
Describing Prof. Ambali as “a real academic”, Mr. Ogedengbe
said that the contributions of the University of Ilorin, under the
leadership of the honoree, to the production of middle level
manpower for the socio-economic development of the nation
could not be underestimated.
The VFPAN boss also thanked God for seeing the Association
to its present state of stability, saying that members also
deserved his commendation for their love, steadfastness and
support for his administration, which he said was responsible
for the success so far recorded.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, represented on the
occasion by the University's Deputy Director, Corporate
Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, thanked the Association for
recognising his contributions to human development and
congratulated the officials, members and well-wishers of the
Association on the programme.
Prof. Ambali, who commended VFPAN's effort in reducing the
level of unemployment among youths in the society, assured
the Association of his continued assistance, saying that
organisations such as VFPAN should be encouraged to do
more.
In his own remarks, the new VFPAN Governor-General, Alhaji
AbdulGaniyu Mustapha, who was full of appreciations to God,
thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his unrelenting assistance to
the Association and prayed that God would continue to
protect and elevate him.
Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of Awards
of Excellence to 34 other distinguished Nigerians and swearing
in of the Association's newly elected 15-member Executive
Committee.
