It boggles the mind that Judge Masipa did not apply ordinary reasoning in her ruling. Ordinary reasoning points one way--toward guilt. First, no woman living intimately with a man would get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and, in the dark, lock the door behind her. Second, disabled in the legs or not, Mr. Pistorius is equipped with a functioning voice, good hearing and fully working arms. Why, if they thought an intruder was in the room, did he not instinctively listen for Ms. Steenkamp's breathing, reach out with his arm to see if she were lying there, or whisper to her to stay put? It's not very hard to figure out almost instantaneously that a partner has left the bed. Mr. Pistorius, even by his own account, had lots of time before he went to the bathroom to have figured this out.

While reading about the trial, I kept wondering if the prosecutor directly challenged Mr. Pistorius by saying this: Surely this was not the first time Ms. Steenkamp got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Why didn't you think an intruder was in the bathroom the other nights?

You are contradicting your own arguments. As much as you want him to jailed, there has to be proof beyond reasonable doubts that the defendant actually had the intent to murder his girlfriend. What you think he may have done is not a fact that any serious judge will use as an evidence to put somebody's life away in the dungeon.

Most of the witness account either defiled common logic or the established facts. The court of law is in the business of hard evidence not people's whims and caprices of what could have been.

But if I look back and realize that a "legless" poor disable man who assumed armed robbers had gained entrance into his flat and were holding up in the bathroom and the initial life and death reaction was to use all that was within his immediate reach to protect himself and his girlfriend, I say thank God that justice is about to be served.

The question I always asked was, "why would an armed or otherwise intruder go to the bathroom and lock himself?"... "did he suddenly develop a running stomach after scaling the fence?"... That guy was paranoid, dangerously paranoid at that.

The comparison between OJ's trial and this one fits like a well-worn glove. Pistorius had a dream team of lawyers like OJ had and the outcome was never in doubt.

Apart from the fact that they're both high profile sportsmen who allegedly killed their women, both cases are somewhat different IMO. From the get-go, Oscar accepted that he did it, and the bone of contention has been if it was premeditated murder or homicide. With Oscar as the person who can provide evidence for the former. Guilty of either one of the two types of killing in South Africa or both from the get-go Vs. claimed innocence from the get-go.

However, in OJ's case, he never accepted that he did it, and he's still claiming innocence. Also, all the evidence that would've alluded to the fact that he did it were tampered with - and the court of law made the right decision.

So, basically, it's no evidence for premeditated murder but accepted homicide Vs. tampered evidence for murder but claimed innocence and was acquitted.

We'll never know if OJ killed his wife or not. But we all know Oscar killed his girlfriend, and the court of law said it wasn't premeditated.

Certainly not to that poor woman that he murdered in cold blood. Just another example of a famous, rich man getting away with murdering a woman with little or no consequences.

Of what I know as pertaining to proof of murder and other related offences, it must be proved beyond reasonable doubt, an iota of ambiguity is enough to destroy the prosecutor's case, this serves the duty of ensuring that the innocent is not unduly punished, be you rich or poor, that is the general rule, so you really can blame nobody, he may however have used his riches to hire good lawyers.
