if ure worried about the airport thugs, then fly to Abuja international airport. 100% thug free plus the best hotel in West Africa(The Transcorp Hilton). if u get to lagos, visit the former slavery post in Badagry.

PS: ignore all these folks who have only heard about Lagos, and well be waiting for you to post ur memories of the city on this forum.

thanks wale. never had a problem in kenya and tanzania, though some white girls working for npc got raped about 2 km from me over there while I was visiting a tribal community. the kenyans have some bad things to say about nigeria but i think it is just from mis-information. and some of the naira women look very nice. where is a good place to meet them? on vi?

1.Never display publicly large currency
2No racism in lagos,cause its no mans land anyway u get the usual shout of onyibo,No statistics to show percentage of white but we have a large no of them scattered in lagos and all over nigeria.You could be supprised that your neigbour could be you aunt.
3.never been to MMA but i dont envisage you will have problems if your papers are right.

also, please tell em more about the stench? does it smell on vi? i don't want to get a headache from the smells. also, no one has responded with anything one shoudl see in lagos? is there nothing but stench? what about the beaches? is badagry nice? bar beach? what about museums? what is there to see and do in the city centre? how far are the national parks from vi? how far is it to ogun state?

U will also find some info about hotels etc.

Make sure you go around with friends who are Nigerian, its the best way to enjoy Lagos.

Like many have advised you, if you have Nigerian contacts, It's best to stick to their plans for you. It's never a good idea playing cowboy on your first visit anywhere in the world. If you don't already have one, arrange for an escort to handle your trip and you're sure to have a blast. Enjoy your visit.

@ Todd Terry, your fears are understandable, considering the wide spread of uncomfortable news about Nigeria.
[b]1. As a white person travelling to Lagos, first you must know that you have to mind your business.
2. I have never heard of racism in Nigeria, just tribalism which shouldn't necessarily bother you.
3. First difficulty at MMA, its gonna take you probably 30 minutes to get down from the plane, second, some cab drivers are going to struggle to have you as their passenger and if you do not like being called 'oyibo' get used to it 'cos no one is going to call you Tedd.
4. The government has taken care of that problem but I don't know to what extent.
5. If you are asked to pay bribe, I suggest you don't and mean it seriously, then you'd probably be let alone.
6. I don't think criminals hang around MMA.
7. No case of a white guy being pulled over has been recorded , YET.
8. Whether or not your driver carries a gun, if you will be robbed then you will be, no crook would approach you with a water pistol.
10. VI has some good hotels
11. VI is not necessarily the place to stay.
14. Change your currency at the airport at a bank or a registered BDC.
17. 10 million people walk about the streets of Lagos daily, and sometimes, they all make it back home.
19. I would suggest you don't give anything to a beggar with 2 hands, 2legs, 2 eyes, 2 ears and a tongue.
22. Malaria is about the only disease to be scared of. I heard very few white men make it alive after meleria.
23. Bottled water is available. Ragolis, Eva, Spring are some you can trust.
24. Say maybe $300.
27. Be a good ambassador of your country and stay away from trouble[/b]

If you are not comfortable travelling to Nigeria better stay put in your country.

Nigerians are proud, intelligent and hard working.

Unless you are not sure of what you are coming here to do, I find it difficult to understand the essence of your many and sometimes unnecessary questions.

If you are genuine, you need not give a single cent to any immigration officer at the airport, unless you have something to hide.

You don't contribute to the corruption and turn around to say Nigeria is corrupt.
