The need for us as enlightened individuals to work with facts and not come across as ignorant is evident now more than ever.
Where is the actual "report" in which it was stated that Nigeria would cease to exist as a sovereign nation? Does it exist? Who commissioned the report or study, and is it a basis for us as educated people to keep heaping blame on the doorstep of the US (Though they hardly seem to give a rats a$$ about it..), instead of reflecting inwards and making things work in our country? The break-up refrain is EVERYWHERE-

Govt Officials loot funds - US predicted our break-up
PDP unveils GEJ as consensus candidate - US predicted our break-up
NA retreats in face of BH attacks - US predicted our break-up
$9.3M flown in from Nigeria to purchase arms, seized at SA - US predicted our break-up

It gets worn out, this whining, and it makes us appear mentally feeble as a people.
Even government officials aren't left out of this parade, people in authority who ought to know better!!
Nairaland is now awash with sycophants and barely educated folk, ascribing all actions and inactions of the USA as part of the grand "Conspiracy" to see poor Nigeria fail.
The internet is free and google actually works. People should carry out a simple investigation as to the veracity of information before peddling it and joining the bandwagon of daftness that is gradually swamping us as a Nation.

In closing, kindly read from here, to confirm that the US govt NEVER predicted the break-up of Nigeria. On the other hand, a scenario where this occurred was considered by the report as inimical to the stability of the entire West African sub-region. Ergo It is in the interest of West Africa, Africa and the entire world for Nigeria NOT to break-up; Think of all the refugees we would become, where would we go, who would provide us relief?(We all know WHO abi..?) And we'd probably go there and display our penchant for ethnicity, nepotism and religious intolerance- and get thrown out!!

In the 1970s, Nigeria was predicted to become a "Tiger Economy"- Like the Asian Tigers Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore etc- Has this come to Fruition?? Does this mean the Prediction, based on the indices and data available at the time, was responsible for us FAILING to live up to our potential?
Can we now hold the so-called US prediction of our 2015 disintegration to be the root cause of ALL our problems and shortcomings(Including corruption and bad governance)?
