The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday September 24th arraigned six fishermen Adekunle Oshingbosi; Momodu Ibrahim; Idowu Tuesday; Togbosi Christian; Benjamin Eyinle; Anthony Medoho, and their company, Oshine Resources Ventures Limited before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly fishing in unauthorized waters.

According to the EFCC, the men were arrested on March 27th by officers of the Nigerian Navy for fishing in Nigerian territorial waters without getting authorized approval thereby violating Sections 1(1)(2) of the Seas Fishery Act Cap S4, 2004.

When the 2 count charge of conspiracy and stealing was read to the men, they pleaded not guilty and applied for bail through their counsel.
The presiding Judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each with one surety in like sum each, who is to produce two recent passport photographs. They were remanded at the Ikoyi prisons pending when they meet their bail conditions.

See what Jona has turned the once dreaded efcc, men going about their work are now been intimidated and prosecuted while Jonas allies have a field day looting treasury and stealing oil. Ifaeyin Uba, Alaimasigha, Peter Odili, Asari Dokuba, Tony Aneneh and Otedola with others who have involved in one oil crime or the other, who are supposed to be in detention are going about with Jonathan.

Politicians are busy looting and stealing billions of naira while efcc is busy engaging these poor fishermen

Its become glaringly obvious that EFFC is now a rudderless ship with no direction.

Nigerian territorial waters? are these fishermen nigerians? if so then what of Europeans fishing in same waters? Enough Europeans bring their boats to the coasts of Africa to fish.. Omo e be like say dem don sell Nigeria since oo na so so laws dem de use imprison ppl so ..

How is this different from the way Europeans started blocking American NATIVES from fishing in their own rivers? And then shooting and arresting a native for trying to gain a honest livelihood?

Instead of EFCC to be investigating all our politicians who are busy looting our money anyhow they are busy arraigning Fishermen For Fishing In Unauthorized Waters. smh
Lack of priorities

Are IJAWS collecting permit to fish in "Nigeria's" territorial waters.
I hope the judge will take the case and throw it out for wasting of court time.
By the way, Nigeria's fishing stock is being depleted by massive foreign trawlers unchallenged ,as we speak.
Taking as many fishes in one night as it will take these fishermen to take in a lifetime.
I hope the next government after this useless one ,will send this EFCC to the scrap heap of history.
Set up with good intentions , but another institution gone bad in the hand of this government.

Just thinking! Is there still hope for this country? WE NEED A REVOLUTION ASAP! Why #10,000,000? While BH sponsors are in the senate and oil/subsidy thieves celebrating birthdays. Not to mention the governors that are stealing a whole state dry. All EFCC can do is this. And somebody will say we don't need a change!!!

Even within the PDP, is there no one that can do better that what we are seeing today? SMH!

What this administration is good at is terrorizing the common men. Why didn't they arraign corrupt leaders like Stella Oduah, Alison Madueke, Edwin Clark, Bamanga Tukur, Obasanjo, T.Orji Kalu, Abba Moro and many others, yet the common men will still come here and type GEJ till 2019. What a senseless and useless people.
