Osun Guber: Aregbesola Replies Omisore, Pdp’s Petition by Johnnyessence(m): 12:39am On Sep 26, 2014
Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf
Adesoji Aregbesola, in his reply to
the petition filed against his
return as the winner of the August
9 governorship election, by the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s
candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore,
has urged the Election Petition
Tribunal, hearing matters relating
to the poll, to dismiss the
petition.
Aregbesola, the 1st respondent, in
his reply dated September 22,
raised preliminary objection to the
competence of the petition on the
ground that the petitioner has no
locus stand to present it.
He stated that the PDP candidate
did not show in the petition that
he was validly a candidate at the
election and that the allegations
contained in several paragraphs
of the petition are “vague, general,
generic, not specific, speculative,
omnibus, imprecise and
nebulous.”
Other preliminary issues raised
against Omisore’s petition were
that several paragraphs of the
petition raise a pre-election issue
which the tribunal has no
jurisdiction to entertain, adding
the petitioners did not meet all
the conditions precedent to the
presentation of the petition.
Beside the preliminary objection
raised, Aregbesola also averred
that the petitioner did not score
up to 25 per cent of the lawful
votes cast in each of the 30 local
government areas of Osun and did
not satisfy the provisions of the
Constitution and the Electoral
Act.
He further claimed that in polling
units and wards being challenged
by the petitioners, entries were
properly made in Forms EC8A,
stressing that there were no
malpractices and acts of
irregularities as alleged and the
result of the election was not
tilted against the petitioner and in
favour of the 1st and 2nd
respondents as alleged.
To support his reply, Governor
Aregbesola, also frontloaded 603
witnesses, comprising voters from
across all the local government
areas being challenged by the
petitioners. nationalmirroronline.net/new/osun-guber-aregbesola-replies-omisore-pdps-petition/

who Jah bless, no man curse.... No doubt, the election was free, credible and fair. I was at the same polling unit with the former deputy governor (Erelu Obada) where she was busy buying votes at the rate #2,000 per vote. The security operatives were there watching! APC leaders and some members were arrested on the eve of election day. What else does the PDP want to prove to us at the tribunal? The election result was the true will of the masses!!!
