My typical setup: notepad++ (a texteditor. Better than the default one tht comes with windows. I use it for taking notes and programming) sublimeText is an alternative. I dont use it. winrar - a file compression utility. For opening archived files (zip,7z etc) vlc - a media player. For watching movies etc. I've not used anythg else after discovering this. Utorrent - for downloading files. Adobe reader - for reading pdf files download manager - for downloading files from the net. Resuming downloads. I use fdm *not very sure of d name. Somthing like that* mozilla firefox - internet browser. Ie (internet explorer) is terribly crash prone. 1 Like |

@ opeyemix, the first and most important app, I would advice you get is an Anti-virus, free or paid. You can get Avast or Avg, any one will do. |

You may add: calibre - for converting ebook files e.g epub to pdf daemonTools - for mounting iso files (iso files are disc images. An iso mounter acts like a virtual disc drive. Necessary for install operating systems,games etc which are usually distributed as iso files). An alternative is power iso. Microsoft word etc (if u do a lot document preparation. I dont. I use a text editor for all my text editing) an open source alternative is openOffice. Popular,open source. But i've never used it. If u wanna edit pix u may try gimp. free software. Never used it. |
