When Jay Z and Solange Knowles got into a major fight in front of Beyoncé in the elevator of a trendy NYC nightclub five months ago, Law & Order: SVU knew they had a gem of an episode to write.

And it aired last night on NBC. The “American Disgrace” episode features fictional NBA star Shakir ‘The Shark’ Wilkins, who is accused of rape by a woman who works for his clothing line.

Much like the real incident, the fake scandal goes public after a video is posted by gossip website ‘LMZ’ (ah hem, TMZ, the site who posted the Jay security footage).
But the infamous elevator brawl is hardly the only big celebrity news story that inspired the hour-long episode. It also includes details from Donald Sterling’s racist rants, as well as the Ray Rice elevator scandal from back in February when he knocked out his then fiancée.

It’s not the first time SVU has used real life celebrity stories for its plots.
In the past, they turned the Chris Brown and Rihanna assault from 2009 into an episode (“Funny Valentine”) to “bring awareness to domestic violence.” The gal who portrayed the fake Rihanna ended up dying at the end though, so we guess it’s slightly different.

They also loosely based an episode (“American Tragedy”) off the case of George Zimmerman, who was on trial for shooting Florida teenTrayvon Martin.

But they used a woman shooter instead of a man. And that woman (played by Cybill Shepherd— whoa!) happened to be a “racist” celebrity chef à la Paula Deen.
