MAN COMMITS SUICIDE BY SLITTING
OWN THROAT
A young man has slit his own throat in
apparent suicide in Wuro Jabbe ward in
Yola South Local Government area of
Adamawa State. The incident took
place on Sunday.
Benitez B. Johns went to a football
pitch near his home and tried to cut his
throat with a scissors. When it failed,
he used a knife to accomplish the
suicide, an eye witness Auwalu Yinusa
told journalists.
Yunusa said the deceased did not
disclose any reason for his action but
there were rumours that he was angry
after his girlfriend abandoned him and
was preparing to marry another
person.
"He had tried scissors but it was not
sharp enough so he took a knife and
cut his throat, then he rushed to the
house looking for help when it was too
late. His family called the police who
rushed him to Specialists Hospital in
Yola where he soon died," Yunusa said.
The Police Public Relations Officer in
Adamawa State, DSP Michael Haa who
was contacted by our correspondent
on Sunday said he was not aware,
promising to get back when he finds
out later. At the time of filing this
report, he had not gotten back.
