A top source at the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) has revealed to SL10 that interim boss of
the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi will be axed on
Wednesday.
The source said regardless of the result against
Sudan, the big boss won't continue in his role as
Super Eagles coach.
“We have resolved, the Sudan game will be his
last game in charge of the team,” the source told
SL10.ng
On the reason why Keshi wasn't fired the night
after the loss to Sudan, the present NFF board
member said some important people needed to be
informed about the board's intention to dispense
with the service of the coach.
“We had to inform some people to get their
approval so we can all be on same page and
thankfully they accepted he should be relieved of
his role so no going back,” added the source.
He also revealed that a new coach, preferably a
foreign one will be in place by October.
“Hopefully we will get a new coach before the end
of October and the general consensus for now is
a foreign coach,” concluded the source.
Nigeria are bottom of their AFCON 2015 group
with one point and Keshi's future has come under
scrutiny since Saturday's shock loss to Sudan.
