NCRIB DECLARES ITS INTENTION TO ELIMINATE FRAUDULENT INSURANCE BROKERS If the information reaching Tectono Business Review, from Abuja, is anything to go by, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has declared its intention to expose and eliminate fraudulent stock brokers. According to our source, a statement from the council on Friday quoted the President of NCRIB, Mr. Ayodapo Shoderu, as saying this during its annual general meeting in Abuja. The president made it clear that NCRIB’s intention to sack errant insurance brokers was part of its realisation of the need to promote professionalism and high ethical standards among insurance brokers. Shoderu said apart from stringent registration procedure and robust induction programme for new members under its membership committee, disciplinary and investigation committees had been strengthened to ensure unbiased decisions on cases brought before them. The NCRIB boss said the council was engaging the National Insurance Commission on a very silent but robust and result-oriented discourse over the recent deregistration of some of the council’s members by NAICOM, stressing that hopefully, within a very short period, the issue would be fully resolved. He added that through the council’s intervention, NAICOM had invited some of the deregistered brokers to update their registration and commence operation. According to the statement, the capacity building initiative had been up scaled to underscore the imperative not only for continuous learning but also to create and sustain a learning organisation. http://tectono..com/ |
