It's actually a more accurate term than 'soft drinks'.

On the contrary I think "soft drink" is a more fitting term. It readily indicates that the drinks are without any alcohol and so are "soft".

coke is called mineral...but one is soft drink while the other one is mineral ore. so we can't called fanta, sprite softdrink and leave coke behind. we have to call them by the parent name mineral since coca cola is their main brand.
