Most football clubs in Nigeria are owned by state govts. And most of the ''owners'' do not have the financial wherewithal to fund these clubs.

The clubs also cannot earn money from things like selling tickets to home matches because most Nigerians do not watch our local league.(Don't believe me.? Watch the NPFL on SS9....and look at the stands. Then watch a La Liga match, or a EPL match and compare).

All these add up to low funding for the clubs.

I guess they could privatize the clubs....but when private owners cannot pay the minimum N150000 demaded by the LMC as minimum wage for players....what do you expect.?

And how much money are these clubs making from TV rights? (Not much, I suspect).

Nigerian football has a cash crisis. That is why our best players have been running out of the country since the late 80's. Why suffer in Nigeria...when you can earn up to $50000 a week in Europe.?
