Shekau Claims Chibok Girls Married Off, Military Moves In More Troops. by OgaTheTop2: 8:20am On Nov 03, 2014
Hopes that the kidnapped 270 Chibok girls would be released may have been dashed, as Boko Haram in its latest video, claimed that the girls had been married off.

Expectations were high following the recent announcement by the federal government that the Chibok girls would be released as part of the package of ceasefire agreement with the sect.

But there are indications that the proposed truce has failed, as the Defence Headquarters said that it had mobilised more troops to counter the attacks of the insurgents.

While this was happening, the pressure group, Bring Back Our Girls with the popular hash-tag #BringBackOurGirls told the Federal Government to commence immediate rescue of the girls, and to immediately protect and restore the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

The leader of the Islamic fundamentalist group, Abubakar Shekau, in a new video debunked the claims by the government that a ceasefire agreement was reached with the group, insisting that at no time had he or his representatives sat with any agent of government.

According to him, “Is it you today claiming we made truce with you? In what way did we make truce? What kind of negotiation? With whom? That your Danladi (Ahmadu) the infidel like you, who we will not spare and will decapitate if he falls into our hands today?"

"Where do we know him, not to talk of him representing us? Who is Danladi on this earth?," said Shekau in the latest video.

"Therefore I tell you (that) we have not made ceasefire with anyone. Only battle, hitting, striking and killing with gun which we long for like tasty meal. This is what we believe in and fight for. Our goal is to see only Koran being followed on earth. This is our focus.

"It is said Chadian President, Nigerian ambassador, the people of Cameroon and us met and agreed on a truce. How? Don’t you know we are still holding your German hostage, always crying. If we wish we hack him or slaughter him or shoot him. We fear no one but Allah. This is our job,” he added.

Shekau noted that the group did not have any plan of releasing the abducted Chibok girl, stating: “When did we release Chibok schoolgirls that we seized, those that Shekau, who is now talking, seized, brought them and kept them in the place he chose for more than six months now.”

He emphasised that: “We did not negotiate with anyone. We did not negotiate with anyone. We did not negotiate with Chad. We did not negotiate with Cameroon. We did not negotiate with Nigeria. We did not negotiate with the Chadian ambassador. We did not negotiate with Africa.”

However, the Defence Headquarters said it had stepped up air and land deployment to tackle terrorists’ activities in the North-east, a development which has effectively brought to an end the highly publicised cease-fire announced recently, which was only observed by the military.

The announcement is coming on the heels of aggressive advancement of Boko Haram in Adamawa and Borno States, leading to the fall of some major towns and several villages to the hands of the insurgents, and the latest video released on Friday night by the leader of the violent sect, Abubakar Shekau, wherein he dismissed claims of the existence of a ceasefire between the group and the Federal Government.

But the Defence Headquarters said it had begun moves to reverse the recent gains made by the terrorist organisation.

Announcing this on Saturday in a statement, the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said: “Necessary deployment of troops and equipment is on-going to reverse all recent violation and breach of security by terrorists and criminals operating in parts of the country.”

The defence spokesman said: “The highly coordinated air bombardment is already yielding required results in the mission to repel the unwarranted attacks on citizens especially in Adamawa and Borno States as land forces are also conducting mopping up operations to apprehend retreating terrorists and facilitate restoration of normalcy in some of the affected communities”, he said.

The Defence Headquarters on Saturday said it had stepped up air and land deployment to tackle terrorists’ activities in the Northeast, a development which has effectively brought to an end the highly publicized cease-fire announced recently, which was only observed by the military.

But in Adamawa, tension and apprehension hit residents of Yola, the state capital, over possibility of an attack by the insurgents as some residents have started fleeing the state.

The development was as a result of rumours that state capital was already under attack and the insurgents may launch an attack any moment from now.

The state capital has been saturated with displaced persons fleeing from Michika, Madagali, Mubi and its environs.

One of the fleeing residents, Mr. Emakus John, who spoke to THISDAY at the Jambutu Motor Park in Yola, said he was fleeing with his wife and children to Enugu to take refuge there.

He said he was going to leave his family in Enugu while he will come back to continue his business in Yola, stressing that he doesn’t want to take any chance, if per adventure the insurgents strike, he will escape with ease.

Also, Madam Felicia also said she was leaving the city because of the imminent strike by Boko Haram. She said she had withdrawn her children from school to continue their study in Imo state.

However, Adamawa state government has dispelled the rumour that the state capital was under attack.
The government, in a press statement signed by the Press Secretary to Governor Bala James Ngilari, Mr. Maxwell Duku, said rumours were false and unfounded.

The state has reviewed the current curfew on the state. The government said in a press statement that curfew will now commence from 9pm to 5am daily. The statement pointed out that those on essential services and with permit will continue to carry out their duties
Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the recent violent attacks by Boko Haram on innocent Christian civilians, Police stations, Prisons and military formations in different parts of Adamawa State.

CAN in a statement said: “While the attack in Adamawa State was said to have also affected civilians, police stations, prisons and military formations in different parts of the state, the bomb explosion at the Gombe Motor Park was said to have killed over 30 persons and left several others injured.”

The statement signed by the General Secretary of CAN, Rev. Musa Asake, maintained that the recent happenings in the North-eastern part of the country had confirmed CAN’s position all along that the Islamic group had no other mission than to annihilate all Christians in the region and install an Islamic regime.

Asake stated that apart from the military infrastructure that were torched by the terrorist group, Ekklesiyar Yan’uaw a Nigeria (EYN), the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, other churches, as well as individuals targeted for destruction were all Christians.

According to the CAN scribe, “the Federal Government should do well to explain to the nation the sins committed by the former National Security Adviser, late Gen. Owoeye Azazi, who was summarily dismissed in June 2012. Was he sacked because of his Christian religion and to satisfy the cravings of his Muslim counterparts?

CAN noted that, “the President appointed a Muslim, Col. Sambo Dasuki, to replace Gen. Azazi who was a Christian and later appointed another Muslim, Gen. Aliyu Gasau as Defence minister with a pledge to deal ruthlessly with the Boko Haram Islamic terrorists.

“The major task handed down to Col. Dasuki and Gen. Gusau is to tackle Boko Haram insurgency, which was already threatening to spread into other regions of the country. But the question in the lips of every Nigerian Christians today is: “What changes have these two military tacticians brought to bear since they were appointed? What is the wisdom of entrusting the nation’s security in the hands of two relations from the North West? Why have these two relations from Sokoto and Zamfara states not changed their tactics in accordance with the presidential mandate given to them to root out the insurgents in the North East geo-political zone? Is this a game plan to eliminate people in that region and put them in perpetual subjugation?”

CAN said Nigerian Christians were no longer comfortable with the continued inclusion of these two individuals in the cabinet even as the Islamic terrorists have not only changed tactics severally but have conquered more territories and established more caliphates in the North East during their regime than at any other period.
