Fashola Owes Workers 18 Months Salary by anonimi: 6:15pm On Nov 05, 2014

28 OCTOBER 2014

Staff of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, (AOCOED), Ijanikin, on Monday besieged the Lagos State Secretariat and office of the State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola located in Alausa, Ikeja, to protest what they termed as series of anomalies in the institution.

The staff who brandished placards with inscriptions such as , 'Olukoga must go', 'Where is our cooperative funds', 'Bashorun must go', 'Fashola pay out four and half years salary arrears', among others said they were also protesting against the credibility of members of the ad-hoc committee set up by the governor to address the issues affecting institution.

Their protest march disrupted working activities in the Alausa secretariat while it lasted.

Addressing newsmen, Chairman of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education, Nigeria, SSUCOEN and Non Academic Staff Union, NASU AOCOED, Mr. Michael Avosetinyen, Mrs. Wunmi Ombugadu and Mr. Femi Adebayo argued that the ad-hoc committee set-up by Governor Babatunde Fashola was not genuine.

Avosetinyen said some of the issues rocking the institution include, unpaid 18 months salaries, non-payment of pensioners' benefits for three years, non-remittance 7.5 percent deducted from worker's salary for 17 months into the Retirement Savings Account, RSA under the new pension scheme, over N150 million unremitted fund deducted from the co-operative funds, poor funding of the institution and others.

He explained that when the governor set up the ad-hoc committee, they were happy and responded immediately the committee invited the unions to a meeting.

Thank you. I find it funny how Nigerians sonehow refuse to hold thier state governors responsible but are quick to blame every negative situation under the sun on the president.

They don't seem to understand that their state governors have a greater impact on thier lives when compared to the president.

Don't allow yourself to be deceived by our useless state governors saying the state allocations has been reduced.
Did they not sue the federal administration for the Sovereign Wealth Fund and subsidy deductions
So if indeed the allocations are being reduced unjustly they would have sued again, not so?

You may wish to note that road contracts awarded by states costs many times more per kilometer than those awarded by the federal government shocked
Generally speaking corruption is highest at the LGA level followed by the state and the LEAST corrupt is the federal.

Something must be wrong somewhere; How come they are the only ones being owed 18months salaries?
Have they been working for the 18months?
How could they have been working for one and half years without pay?

Arrears of what would it be then
If not their salary as reported by the newspaper last week as the cause of a protest at the governor's office to which his normally super-efficient PR team has not reacted?

Only gullible ones will believe this. How can people with family work for good 18 months without pay? Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

Those who can will extort money from the students.
Those who cannot will find other ways of "sorting" themselves out including stealing and selling off the College's assets.

One sees that everywhere in our country with UNDER_paid and UN_paid workers e.g. toilet cleaners at the airports who sell toilet rolls and water to those who want to use such facilities. shocked

EXCLUSIVE: Audit exposes massive corruption in Lagos local councils; indicts officials for squandering millions

Did we forget the above grin

The report also criticised another set of eight local government areas of piling up debts and failing to meet targeted revenue projections.
The LCDAs in this category are Eti-Osa East, Ikoyi-Obalende, Iru-Victoria Island, Yaba, and Agabo-Oke LCDAs.
The LGAs are Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Somolu.
Together, the eight councils accounted for N788.3 million in debt, and fell short of the projected N831.5 million self-generated revenue, the report states.

Fashola created debt everywhere
With a series of loan deals, the World Bank in particular has been involved in the urban renewal programme of Lagos State as well as efforts to reform the policy environment.

Some of the latest approvals by the World Bank for the state include $42m loan deal approved by its Board of Executive Directors in March to support secondary education programme in the state.

The new International Development Association credit of $42m to the Lagos EKO Secondary School Project was an addition to the original credit of $95m; which was said to have systematically benefited over 620,000 students a year in 667 public secondary schools in the state between 2009 and 2013.

The school loan was shortly followed by an approval of $200m to the state to support reforms pertaining to fiscal sustainability, budget planning, budget execution and the investment climate.

The truth is that there is little or no governor in nigeria that can stand before God n Man and comfortably say he has never taken public fund, even rochas and rotimi. They just claim to be pius but all na lie.Our corruption is soo huge one will combine JESUS and Mohammad to rule for 20years before they can reverse the trend. All those citing pdp states that are owing are just plain foolish and are the reason these nonsense keeps festering.Lets call corruption by its name, whether from the presidency oo, the guvnors oo,senate, reps ,even house of assembly, chairman and councillors must show accountability. Until then all this mismanagement will not stop.God bless Nigeria.

Liar! Show us prove of the rubbish you just posted. Some of you just think by just throwing lies out there no one will be smart enough to challenge the lies. Just give me proof to the rubbish you posted here. You throw lies out there and repeat the lies thousands of times, then hope the lies stick.
By the way, how has things been in your landlocked, erosion ravaged, cursed region? Your governors are super rich but have nothing to show for in the last sixteen years. The last time I checked, 45% of men between 13-45 are in the states (Southwest) where you always criticize their governors. How are you holding your governors legs to fire? If you channel 1/4 of your criticism to your Governors, Iboland would have been a little better than it is today.
