I'm an HND holder and after my service I got a job in Akure dat worth #50 thausand naira but I wish to have my first degree for future purpose despite that I don't have a sponsor n I'm a married man as well. My problem now is , bfor I got d job, I applied for Direct Entry ( O.A.U) n d admission is certain by God's grace. The question is , CAN I QUIT MY JOB FOR MY EDUCATION OR NOT?? Yes or no with reason.

Your contribution is very important.

My advice will be for you to continue with your job.

WHY
I have a million reason, but here are a few.
1. You have a family to take care of.
2. A divided mind during schooling will make your Grades bad, like really bad
3. The disparity between HND and BSC is exaggerated
4. You can land that dream job with your HND
5. The Job experience you'll gather in 3 Years will out-weigh the supposed "additional" qualification.

why not take a pgd course in your specialisation instead and pursue masters later on(all these can be done part time) instead of you to quit your job?

I appreciate your current predicament.

I'd like to take sides with those who advised you earlier on not leaving your current job for your education. If you were not married, going to further your education would have been a no-brainer. But as it as been rightly mentioned earlier, you are no longer only responsible for yourself but also for your wife.

I'll advise that you stay on the job while aggressively pursuing professional qualifications in line with your chosen career path and field. Professional qualifications are even more reckoned with than a B.Sc. in Nigeria presently. You could also do well to do a PGD as well.

Wish you all the best, whatever you decide to do. #Insidify

Bro. I was in your shoes about 3 years ago. I had an HND in acounting at Distinction level and ACA.

I was desirous of having a degree in accounting considering that good companies will never accept your HND.

My confusion then was my age (37 then) and i am married.

My wife encouraged me to enroll for part time studies in one of the universities around.

This I did. I want to tell you that by next year, I will finish with a Bsc in accounting. And the beauty of it is that i am 90% sure of making a First Class. Currently i am in 400l and my Cgpa is 4.65

In my class, I have a guy who has HND, PGD, MSC, ACA, ACIT. But he came back for a Bsc.

The truth is, most HND holders who tell you to forget Bsc are only looking at the time it will take to complete the program. But give them Bsc, they will readily accept it.

If you don't go for the Bsc now, in four years time you will wish you did.

Don't ever think of doing PGD. It does not equate HND to BSC.

Look for a university around you and enroll for part time studies.

Goodluck till 2019.
