FRSC, at least you guys can preserve whatever is left of the accident victims dignity by getting more vehicles to convey them decently out of the accident scene and not to pile them on top of each other like garbage or common criminals. I am so disgusted. Anyway, RIP to the victims and may God console their families. |
henroo5:I roamed it but still didn't get network signal |
Hey guys, sorry to digress a bit. I am currently in Canada but my Mtn line would not work. Does anybody have any idea how I can get signal on it? |
Hi guys, does any body know if there is a market where they sell wood carvings in Cotonou? Urgent response needed. An example of the wood carving is uploaded here below

'Nemo Judex Incasa Suo' - You cannot be a judge in your own cause'. She should have known that elementary legal maxim. How can you be a complainant and judge at the same time in your matter. Haba! |
Been vacationing in Canada. The cold is something else. No wahala at point of entry. The guy just asked me what I was coming to Canada for? How long I was going to stay and if it was my first time to which I said yes and he just stamped and told me to enjoy my stay. I went enroute Paris. The trip from Nigeria to Paris was killing as I was very sick on d plane. The seats (Air France) was very narrow and the vibration of d plane was non stop till Paris. Men, Canada far well well ooh. It is a beautiful place sha. Any good news yet? |
justwise:Well, just sharing what worked for me and also someone who took my advise. My covering letter was just a page long and I managed to touch d salient points. I agree that d basic information they need is contained in the application forms. The covering note however, ties the accompanying documents to the data contained in d form. |
justwise:HI justwise, a covering letter strictly speaking is not a visa requirement. However, it is an invaluable and inalienable (in my view) part of a Canadian visa application for the reasons I exhaustively highlighted in my earlier post. If you dump a bunch of papers before d visa officers without an index, they may not find valuable documents that might help your application. Little wonder people keep complaining here for instance that they have impressive travel history and provided evidence but were still denied a visa on that account. |
Cala:HI Cala, be patient. Mine lasted over 60 days before I got the notification. You are likely to get d prompt this coming week or at d most the upper week. Please, share the good news when it comes in. Get your self busy with work to kill the anxiety. Congratulations in advance |
Hi mrkhaynoni & other visa hopefuls, Every application is unique and so there is no hard and fast rule as to the style or type of documents you need to attach. However, I believe there is a baseline for every application. I will offer an advice that will help in packaging your application to suit your peculiar circumstance. The number one reason why people get denied visas is as a result of failure to articulate the content of their application properly. People fail to get visas sometimes because they failed to include a covering note or that the included covering note did not properly capture the grainy details of their application. Remember that the visa officers have tons of applications to deal with on a regular basis and they would be more than glad if you make their job easy by leading them straight to d points in issue via your covering note instead of burdening them with the arduous task of foraging through the compost heap of documents accompanying your application. labeling your documents is very critical in an application. Since most accompanying documents sent are photocopies, u need to do well to label them for ease of reference. For example, photocopies of your property documents or visas can be marked "Doc 1", "Doc 2", "Doc 3" respectively and so on as so forth as the case maybe. Please, do not mark originals but make copious references to them in the covering note. You will discover at the vfs office that the rearrange the documents and put them under different heads. Do not bother because, when the documents are marked, it is easier to trace them despite the rearrangement. A lot of people get denied visas not because they weren't qualified but because relevant documents concerning their application were not seen or located by the visa officer or that some knotty issues were not explained. Remember that the covering letter advocates for you in your absence. To my mind, the covering letter is better than an oral interview because you are calm and composed when writing it unlike d oral interview where you may be knocked off balance by a question owing to a wide range of factors like anxiety etc. Let your covering note be chronological or sequential and not haphazard. You can break the letter into different heads. I advise that you break them into the heads that they usually turn people down for. Example 1. Purpose of visit. Under this head, very clearly and in simple language explain the reasons why you want to go to Canada and how you plan to spend the visit. You can now refer to your letter of invitation (if you have one) or tour booking or conference booking as proof of purpose of visit. 2. Travel history Under this heading, please, list the countries you have visited and refer them to the photocopied visa pages or flight tickets as proof of travel history. Remember that you should label the photocopies and refer to them by their labels. 3. Proof of sufficient funds. All they need to see here is proof that you have sufficient funds to defray your expenses during your visit without having recourse to public funds. U have to introduce your bank statements here and refer them to closing balances if the account is healthy or in the alternative, pattern of inflow and outflow of funds if the balance isn't impressive. The most important thing is to convince them that you have sufficient funds available to you for your trip. 4. Proof of assets Here you list your valuables like houses, cars, electronics etc, anything to show that you have a quality life here in Naija which u would long to come back to and that you are not the scum of the earth. Attach the receipts of purchase as proof of personal assets and reference them properly. I will continue next time and conclude my thoughts on this subject. I hope you find d little above useful instead of listing documents. If you still want a list of the documents, just let me know and I will be more than glad to oblige you. Cheers buddy.[/quote] |

Cala:Awfully sorry Cala for d late response. Yes, I just received a notification this morning and I went and collected my passport. I was given 1 year multiple visa. I am thankful to God for that. At work at d moment. Later, I will debunk some fallacies peddled here albeit inadvertently by some folks so as to assist others. Cheers |
sweetkemzy:Congratulations! |
Cala:Will wait till the end of the month to see if it comes in. I got myself busy with work to get distracted and it worked. |
cd44748172:Hey, you have gone 'awol' (absent without leave). What's up with your app? I hope it turned out good. |
Cala:Hey Cala, I submitted my app since December 2015. No feelers yet. How about you? When did you submit your app? |

OJUcrook:People like you are the reason why ethnic animosity festers. In your feeble attempt to correct what you perceive as the 'victim card' allegedly played by the Igbos, u ended up exacerbating the whole issue by your spiteful and hatred laced reference to the igbos as 'these people'. The earlier Nigerians realize that it is us (Nigerians of all tribes and ethnic groups ) on the one side against the corrupt elite group who have subjugated and promoted the gospel of ethnicity and tribalism for their selfish gains on the other side, the better for all of us. They are the ones who put all of us in this economic mess not minding the section of the country we come from. I think you should tone down your remarks and realize that we are one despite our diversity. Referring to people as 'these people' is very spiteful. We should endeavor to address issues constructively and quit blowing the embers of discord. Just my unsolicited opinion though. I love you my fellow Nigerian. |
All I have to say is 'what goes around comes right back around'. Break someone's home and when you get in you want to keep him to yourself. It doesn't work that way babe (UK Gurl). Karma Is a biyatch u know |
Hey guys, anyone gotten an app pick up notification yet? Do share your experience so far |
kolajoo:Wow! 76 days today. That's quite sometime. I guess the delay might be as a result of d length of time it takes for background check feedbacks to come in. Perhaps, they are saddled with tons of student applications. Just can't wrap my fingers round the reasons why d verdict should exceed d estimated 55 day period. I hope they issue d visas after d long wait. |
Ooh my God! I know her. She taught me at the Lagos Law School some years back. Very kind hearted woman. I pray she gets well soon. |
[quote author=cd44748172 post=42210438]Any update pals? Am picking up my visa soon Good luck. I like your positive attitude. Please, share d good news when it comes in. |
cd44748172:Thank u for your kind and prompt response. |
Ayluvparis:Yay! Congrats Ayluvparis. Did they return d accompanying documents u sent in support of your visa application? |
It is disheartening to read some insensitive comments by some disgruntled elements over a serious issue as this. My heart goes out to her family at this trying time and I pray she is found in good health soon. |

Hi guys it is all quiet here. Ain't there updates? This is wishing everyone a happy new year and all d desires of your hearts which obviously includes obtaining your respective Trv's. |
Hi everyone, is it compulsory for all TRV/Visit Visa applicants to fill the [i]Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257 – Schedule 1] form. Please, note that in the main form which is Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257], it states in some sections that u may be required to fill Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257 – Schedule 1] form if you answer yes to certain questions and at the same time there is an indication on the same Schedule 1 form that it must be filled by all applicants. Please, any one with knowledge of the correct procedure should kindly advise me. Thanks |
