Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose Monday sacked the political appointees of the leadership of the Ekiti House of Assembly.

In a statement signed by Secretary to the State
Government, Dr. Modupe Alade, said,”the political
office holders attached to the Speaker and Deputy
Speaker in Ekiti State House of Assembly are hereby relieved of their duties with immediate effect.” Fayose

The affected political office holders are, Wole Olujobi, Special Adviser (Media) to the Speaker; Ojobamikan Dele, Special Adviser (Political) to the speaker; Lawrence Awelewa, Special Adviser (Special Duties) to the speaker;Omirin Wande – Special Assistant to the speaker on Youth Matters; Orija Samuel – Chief of Staff to the Speaker
Sanmi Adeeko, Personal Assistant to the speaker;
Taiwo Oluwaleye, Special Assistant to the Dep.
Speaker on Media Matters and Adedipe Esther,
Special Assistant to Majority Leader on Media Matters.

According to the statement, all government
properties in the possession of the affected
appointees should be handed over to the Clerk of the House with immediate effect.”‘

Meanwhile, one of the affected aides, who seeks
anonymity ,said, “‘the Governor lacks the power to
sack aides of the Speaker and Deputy who are
appointees of the House of Assembly Service
Commission which is a separate arm Government.”

Just imagine the number of aides and unnecessary political appointees that surround the speaker. Waste of resources!

And I reckon that
1. This happens only in Ekiti state. Speakers don't have aides in other states. Can you do an analysis of other states?
2. there is no longer separation of powers because Jonathan can now sack aides of David Mark

The Ekitis would have their stomach infrastructure
But also have their hands full of crisis
Nobody should dare impeach Fayose
The Ekitis must nurture to term the child they have sired
They need the lesson and experience!

Ís Fayose suffering from acute thuggery or illiteracy? When did the Governor start having the power to interfer in matters as regards the State's AssemblÝ Service Commission? Someone should tell Fayose that the Speaker is incharge of Ekiti Assembly Service Commission, just as the Chief Judge is incharge of the State's Judicial Service Commission, and the Governor incharge of the State's Civil Service Commission. This so-called sack is unconstitutional, illegal, null and void.

Oh Ekiti, what have you done?

Fayose didn't sack the speaker but his numerous aids which is just another money siphoning thing.
Ekiti people should be thankful to Fayose for trying to clean up the mess left by your progressive ex governor - progressive indeed.....smh

In as much as Gov. Fayose do things that's beyond his jurisdiction yet we have to take a look at that utter nonsense by our so called politicians. A situation where the speaker and deputy has S.A on Media, Politics, Economic Matters, Youth e.t.c and all sure all this so called S.A. will have P.As. The money is spend of governance is much more than the money we spend on the governed

When I saw a lot of people writing this yesterday, I imagined how ignorant Nigerians are or, say, they simply lack arithmetic skills. Now, the constitution stipulates a 2/3 majority for impeachment and not SIMPLE MAJORITY. So, 2/3 of 26 is 17 (ignoring the decimal)!!

Therefore, that statement of yours and those of the other people who wrote that yesterday should read: ...."where 7 people are more than 17", and not "7 more than 19".

That is what Ekiti said they want when they voted Fayose.
They already knew he had 'Area-Boy-Tendency'.
NO pity dem!

The Ekiti state house of assembly has 26 members and seven members out 9 or 10 that were allowed entry into the legislative chamber voted for new speaker and ratified the Governor request. Now the technicality:
1. They intentionally allowed 2/3 APC members to allow for quorum to be formed, quorum is 9.
2. Shut the Speaker and other members outside with the help of Nigeria Police. No illegal/force entry by APC members (though they have all right to entry) unlike PDP in one state who force themselves in despite the court order against them.
3. 2/3 majority can suspense members and impeached the speakers.
4. APC may suspend the seven lawmakers for this action and the Edo and Rivers drama start again.
Now to your comment, 26 - 7 = 19 according to the situation [not about absolute or simple majority but about member for (7) and against 19]. In either case APC has but absolute and simple majority.

bros what I mean is that the Governor has no legitimacy to sack, suspend or employ any aide of the State's Assembly Principal Officers. That is the job of the Ekiti Assembly Service Commission
