How Citizen Benjamin Was Defrauded In The Name Of God. by WinsomeX: 10:32am On Nov 18, 2014
Joseph Benjamin must be thinking hard about his citizenship of Nigeria, right now. He must be recalling, Andrew’s checking out. He must be wondering, why on earth, anyone would be asking Andrew not to check out. If Joseph Benjamin were that kind of person, wild horses would not be able to stop him from going on self-exile, with all his relatives and resources.

No, he is not in that dimension of awe over Ebola. He is bearing the curious carnage in the North-East with courage and hope. Those are not the reasons why he breathes rapidly and ends it with a helpless sigh.

Benjamin is a law abiding Nigerian. He works hard in the region of light for his daily bread. He runs an ICT firm, which consults on and sells computers and accessories. When business comes, he deals with all his heart and might. He delivers to his clients and makes do with little profits and solid integrity. He gradually builds his company’s name and reputation. When business turned dull, he made do and turned to God. The fast, dark and slippery way of fast money was not a consideration. He trusted in God and goodliness.

Then, on one of those dull days the sun slept a little longer and appeared it won’t shine, the sun shone from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). That federal government rent collector which compels all of us to pay our taxes. The FIRS advertised for tenders. It wanted a reputable company to supply laptops worth about 163 million Naira. Benjamin’s company, Citadel Oracle Concept Limited applied. A proposal was packaged and sent to the FIRS.

Of all the companies which bidded, Benjamin’s company was chosen. The point which should have been one of joy, sadly, was the beginning of Benjamin’s burden. It was the first step of citizen Benjamin’s travails and a painful insight into the stark reality of the country called Nigeria. But he would first taste the bitter sting of a viper robed in the wears of a woman.

After the FIRS notified him of the successful bid, he needed a facilitator. One who could handle documentations and sundry other slight developments in the course of executing the contract promptly. The reason being that Benjamin’s Citadel Oracle Concept Limited, was domiciled in Ibadan, Oyo State. Quite a distance from the Abuja base of FIRS headquarters.

Who else do you turn to, but a family friend of over ten years, who lived in Abuja? This was how PRINCESS ONYEOMA KAMA came into the picture. She volunteered to act on the company’s behalf. The human nose is probably the most mean of the entire human anatomy. It smells everything else, but refuses to smell and sniff out a wicked advent. How do you begin to think ill of a decade-old friendship, filled with appearances of the full compliments of the Holy Spirit. But the heart of man is always veiled by his face. So much unlike a dish you simply opened and saw the content. The heart is sealed.

Princess Onyema Kama, landed at the FIRS headquarters, armed with a Letter Of Authorization, to conduct business on behalf of Citadel Oracle. She was to handle requests from the FIRS so that the contract would be quickly executed. This was the point an otherwise straight story developed a very nasty K-leg.

Soon afterwards, Benjamin, the CEO of the bid-winning company, was talking to another party that should be absolutely unconnected with the contract. Enter Chief ONNY S.O. Igbokwe. Igbokwe is the CEO of AD’MAS etc, which also laid claims to ICT business. Let us submit to you that Ad’Mas, is a subsidiary of Stan Ekeh’s Zinnox. So, when you begin to see the fingers of one Onny Igbokwe working his dark and sinister deeds, please, kindly note that he was constantly worked from behind the scene by Stan Ekeh.It is a gathering of vultures. As the drama unfolded, Onny Igbokwe, turned out to be a fraud-ring kingpin, with deep roots in Nigeria’s FIRS. Apparently, Princess Onyema Kama, was a prominent member of the FIRS scam syndicate.

The ring informed citizen Benjamin that, indeed, he had been awarded a contract, but things were not really as they appeared. He was told to just remove about 15 millio

The ring informed citizen Benjamin that, indeed, he had been awarded a contract, but things were not really as they appeared. He was told to just remove about 15 million Naira of the total contract sum of about 163 million Naira, and remit the remainder into Igbokwe’s account. He was told that the head of FIRS had to get his “QUARTER”, and his subordinates also had to be settled. At this point, the position of Princess Onyema Kama, had not fully manifested. But it would.

Benjamin would have none of the crap Chief Igbkwe was spewing. He told the Chief in certain terms that he was not going to be part of any fraudulent practice which could destroy the name and reputation he toiled to build over the years. Sensing that Citizen Benjamin was not playing like a full-blooded Nigerian, Igbokwe also unveiled, and told him that he would use his influence and connection deep inside the FIRS to make sure the contract was reawarded to another company, which heard whistles clearly. Citizen Benjamin was okay with this. He breathed easier. Poor man. For him, the money was not at the heart of the issue, but his company’s repute. He just did not get it.

He wrote FIRS, withdrawing the power of authorization initially given to Princess Onyema Kama. He went back to his clean table. He had done what was right by God, his conscience and the laws of the land. A good Nigerian. As he was settling down at his table one morning, word came from his bankers. Over 8 million Naira had been remitted in Witholden Tax. This development complemented another story which came from an Abuja-based pentecostal church, where Princess Onyema Kama went to give testimony to God’s faithfulness. She told the congregation that she just won a multi-million Naira contract.

Benjamin was not so bothered by the testimony, as he was by the tax his company was said to have paid. He was sure he made no such payment on any of his accounts. Now, we have a dark trinity of : 1. A fraud-torn FIRS, 2. A conniving ACCESS Bank, and 3. A brazen Jezebel and cohorts on the altar of God ! You could stab a bosom friend in the back, and while the knife you held still dripped his blood, you take the trail to the altar of God to give a testimony ! Really! And they say the woman was a fragile vessel. The fairer sex.

ACCESS BANK. It is not yet clear, if ACCESS BANK connived with Kama and company, engaging in fraud as corporate policy, or if it was just the Awolowo branch barons in Ikoyi, who elected to pull a fast one and soil the name of their bank. It would be clear. Princess Onyema Kama, with others not at large, opened a fresh account at ACCESS bank, and wait for this… in the exact name of Benjamin’s company ! It would not have been so bad if Citadel Oracle Concept LTD was a stranger to ACCESS BANK. But no ! the company had two good accounts with ACCESS BANK in Ibadan. It was a recognizable legal entity.

Princess Kama and Chief Igbokwe’s band, did a lot. They forged Citizen Benjamin’s signature. They forged a board resolution. They scurried through the processes of Corporate Affairs Commission, and in fact, began using the documents with the ACCESS BANK before it scaled through C.A.C. In any case, how does a C.A.C. replicate a company it already had its name? These people forged every little document required by credible banks to verify and authenticate transactions. Today’s ACCESS BANK would rip the heart of a valued customer to shreds. They did not contact the people who ran accounts in that name. They opened an account for the fraud-ring.

All this trouble was necessary because the contract was awarded in the name and account of citizen Benjamin’s company. So FIRS bosses cloned the account and oiled the wheels of fraud in ACCESS BANK. It was by divine intervention that the true owner of the account name heard about what evil was being perpetrated in his company’s name. Of course God was angry with Princess Kama and the rest of the bandits, but it was red-hot irony, that the process of FIRS was what gave the game away. The Witholding Tax issue, was the shrilling alarm. They were not so smart afterall.

But you begin to find it more intriguing when you are told that ACCESS BANK refused to give the details of the fake account to Joseph Benjamin when he requested it. ACCESS BANK told the man he was not a signatory to an account opened in his company’s name. They knew precisely what they were doing. ACCESS BANK PLC was playing a key role in a fraud, using its position of trust to hoodwink an unsuspecting Nigerian into believing such was unthinkable in such a financial institution. Nigerians should watch out. How many citizens like Benjamin had been done in like this at ACCESS BANK ? Who knows the kind of desperation which could lead a bank of this seeming stature to the abyss of crime and slime. One moment you thought these banks were good and solid, the next minute your money was gone! Who would be the next victim of ACCESS BANK?

The FIRS paid Nigeria’s money into a fake account post-haste. The money was cleared almost immediately. Government of Nigeria spends huge amount of resource on campaigns for prompt payment of tax. Is this it ? Paying tax to fraudsters pretending to be tax officers ? The worst part is that the CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU, which should have handled issues like this is infinitely worse in contract dealings. How long would this administration give its opponents cheap missiles to throw at it? As corruption-ridden as Nigeria is, has it then gone so bad that our FIRS would be forging documents in connivance with a rotten bank, and calm is it?

But citizen Benjamin is dejected and weary because of more emergent issues. Where would help come from? ACCESS BANK would not deal with its in-house fraud. The Special Fraud Unit is tame as an overfed dog. Trust Nigerian Police to pluck when it is ripe. The EFCC of Lamorde is different from Ribadu’s. Fraud buzzes around Lamorde’s head the way fat flies buzz around a stinking carcass. Lamorde is absent. This is definitely not the type Ribadu would have found tough to tackle. Heads would have rolled. A column to Kirikiri would have formed by now. It is a huge shame that you are forced to call the dog a buddy when human beings are not at home.

It goes on. The Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) heard and went mute. That is the superintending agency. That is the body established to ensure that standards were kept. The CBN should be at the vanguard of redress, restitution and punitives in accordance to stipulations, so that Nigerians could build trust in their financial institutions. The CBN, here, is not being asked to go and dislodge Boko Haram in Bama. We mandated them to dislodge decay in our financial institutions. It could not. Not in this case.

Even the big men of God were talking in unholy tongues. They asked Benjamin to forget about it, and leave it all to God. Of course, testimonies of a huge contract was not going without hefty tithes. But the kind of men of God who glide around glitzy altars in glossy state capitals are mostly steeped in the worst types of fraud themselves. While folks like Stan Ekeh, Princess Kama and Onny Igbokwe, steal from human beings, our lords spiritual steal from God with nerves of steel. They even advised citizen Benjamin to forget about these dangerous people who could assassinate him. These men of God only echo threats already issued by the brigands.

When everything else failed; FIRS, SFU, CBN, ACCESS,EFCC,citizen Benjamin took his plight to Afe Babalola’s chambers. He was confident justice would at least be pursued. Afe had a sparkling start, but was shy of finishing. He took some legal fees from the man and ran a few letters around. Then he snored away. It makes you miss the likes of Fawehinmi and Aturu. May God rest their wonderful souls. Just think about it , would Gani Fawehinmi let this fraudsters go under any circumstance? This is why some people would fizzle out, moments after their breaths, and the lofty edifices they erected would crack and cover their tombs almost in the same instant. A man whose eyes-water could not reach his heart in the stretch of a fellow’s pain, walks the earth with erasers under his boots. If he turned to look back, at the mouth of his grave, he would have wiped his own footprints. It doesn’t matter how thickly they were marked.

Now, other lawyers have gone ahead, where old ones failed to stand. Where all the institutions sworn against crime had failed. Where banks swim in horrendous fraud. Let those who have limitless faith in this country’s justice system wait on the court and hope for solace. I wait to tell you ‘i told you so’. Would it not be the ultimate confirmation of the dying of a nation, if for instance, Citizen Benjamin had to pay damages for certain hellish breaches coming from the arbiter’s fogged nightmare? Or if the case simply drags on forever. Welcome to that fruit which rots away at an incredible rate, yet, some retards say it ripens. Just spare a gentle thought for citizen Benjamin. As he fends for himself in the face of grievous injustice which should have been the duty of the State. As you spare that disturbing thought, you spare it for a fate several had suffered in this country. A fate which might happen to any of us who people this country like cows without tails. It should not be our lot. But there you are… It is.
