1) Bank Verification Number, BVN, is part of the Central
Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s, cashless policy to capture
customers’ data and check fraud in the banking system.

2) It is an initiative of the CBN to give every customer in the Nigerian banking system a unique identification number that can be verified across all banks in Nigeria.

3) The enrollment process for acquiring your BVN is simple. Visit any branch of the bank you have an account with. Registration by proxy not acceptable.

4) Collect and fill the BVN enrollment form with all personal data about you.

5) Submit the completed form to a designated official at
your bank, who would then transfer the information given
into a computer data base.

6) The official will take your photograph and finger prints.

7) You will sign your signature that will be captured
electronically into the data system.

cool A small temporary registration acknowledgement slip will be issued to you, followed by an email or SMS conveying a similar information.

9) A BVN identification card with a computer chip bearing
your embedded personal information will be issued to you
for collection at your designated bank branch.

10) BVN registration exercise is mandatory for all individual customers. Registration must be completed on or before June 30, 2015.

11) After deadline, you may not be able to do any financial transaction in any bank in the Nigerian banking system as you will require your fingerprint for authentication.

12) BVN registration is for individual account holders for the meantime till further notice.

13) Registration in one bank covers all accounts the
individual might have in all other banks...

@ BigBizzy: And how do those bank customers that are not resident in the country get verified? Any contingency arrangement to address this category of customers who may not have any immediate plan of visiting Nigeria any time soon to beat the looming deadline of June 30, 2015?.

Ok what happens in future when people start complaining about missing card and card problems? when there is already a new technology that can read this same data from your forehead or hands?

Then the world system which is antichrist has gotten the people where they want them to be. Having control over your funds, forcing people to accept laws of the new world order or not have access to their funds.

Because we r now in a cashless society we must accept the mark. After this BVN card, the next will be the chip which will be either on the forehead or hand.

It looks nice now but the end will be disastrous. Well i go take am now that it is still card. But as soon as they start to body own , i will know the time has come.

This BVN means that a Government Official with the appropriate clearance can view all your Financial Transactions across all your Bank accounts within a jiffy. It is similar to a social security number that the US operates.

I don't think Nigeria is mature enough for this kind of initiative.

I got my BVN from say Diamond Bank...can I go to my other bank GTB since its close to me to get the BVN card with the chip in it? Or am I restricted to Diamond Bank in this regard...

if you got your BVN for Diamond, and you have an account with GTB, all you need to do is to present that BVN at GTB for them to input it, that's all. You don't need to undergo another scanning, filling forms again
