NIGERIA MUST CHANGE GROUP WARM UP TO PROTEST AGAINST POLICE INVASION OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, SAYS POLICE ACTION IS TREASON AGAINST THE STATE.
Nigeria Must Change shall be embarking on a peaceful protest in Abuja to express its concerns over the treasonable offense committed by the Inspector general of Police against the speaker of the federal house of representative, hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other members of the legislative arm of government.
Through this protest, we are going to condemn the barbaric action of the police and drum it into the hear of the police and other security agencies that any attempt to repeat such a misguided invasion shall not be taken lightly by the Nigerian people.
As part of our demands in this protest, we shall be giving the government 48hours to charge the inspector general of police to court for treason against the state, failure of which would spark a continuous protest against the president until our demands are meet.
Let it be known that, Legislature is the symbol of democracy in any country, and for the police (agent of the executive) to have the audacity of attacking such an institution under whatever guise is not an acceptable practice that would be tolerated, especially as this is attached to the selfish and personal interest of some individuals and political party.
An attack on the National Assembly is an attack against Nigeria, as honorable members are the representatives of the Nigerian people.
So, let it be known that, federal lawmakers are not people that can be prevented or attacked by any authority. Any attempt to prevent lawmakers from performing their duty is a call for anarchy and this first invasion shall not be taken in silence.
It is also important to note that, under no circumstance should any agency of the executive arm of government interfere or attempt to interfere with the activities of the legislature, as such attempt clearly goes against separation of power as stipulated in the Nigerian constitution.
And for the police to have attempted to prevent honorable members by blindly allow themselves to be used against Nigeria, we shall not allow this pass without redress.
We know for sure that the action of the police is a treason against the Nigerian state and we would express this through a protest to the police headquarters and the National Assembly.
The date of our protest is yet to be decided, but certainly, we shall communicate with all stakeholders to join us in this protest to save Nigerian democracy.
Under a normal circumstance, there is no way the police can prevent the speaker or other lawmakers from entering their workplace or attack the National Assembly like insurgents attack Nigerian towns in the troubled northeastern states, but since Nigeria under president Goodluck Jonathan had been led into an abnormal circumstances, it has been happening.
We shall use this protest to express our stand on the various situation in the country.
On this note, we are calling on all like minded groups to join us, as we protest to condemn the action of the police and collectively demand for charging inspector general of police for treason against the state.
PREPARE TO SAVE NIGERIA
