Job Title: Assistant Project Engineer (Elect)

Location: Lagos

Reporting to: Project Manager(Elect)

Purpose of Role/Context/Scope

Nigeria is currently the world’s third largest market for the Guinness Brand and plans to become the largest in the next five years. 

Projects are managed by HQ engineering team while offshore aspects of major projects; are principally managed by Diageo Business Engineering.

ØTo develop and implement the Capex programme delivering capacity, cost, quality improvements ahead of forecast demand,     ensuring that GN standards are maintained
ØDeliver projects within budgets
ØThe Project Engineering Team also develops engineers for placement in operational roles.
           
  Key Accountabilities
1.Support the Project Manager (Elect) in the definition of a 5-year rolling Capex programme that supports the Strategic Plan.

2.Implement approved projects and progress through to completion on time, in budget and that the stated objectives and GN Engineering/ Risk Mgt. Standards are achieved.

3.Hand over completed projects to the users

4.Accountable to the Project Manager (Elect) and Corporate Project Manager for delivery of projects on time on budget with all stated deliverable on trade

Dimensions
1.Annual Capex budget for industrial capex around N4.3billion. Project manager will be accountable for around 10% of this.
2.Project team varies from 5 – 10 people directly under PM’s control.


Financial
1.To manage projects range from N5m to N15+m.
2.Plan and manage implementation of project budgets
3.Report weekly Project Update
4.Negotiate with 3rd party services through procurement

Market Complexity
1.Guinness Nigeria has an aggressive expansion programme to increase current capacity from 2.6m hectolitres to 5.5.m hectolitres over the next 5 years requiring an investment of £120m.
2.To beat the competition at all levels.

ØUnderstands the link between Diageo Values/ Leadership Capabilities and excellence in technical disciplines.

    Qualifications and Experience Required
ØDegree in Engineering, Preferably B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering.
ØRegisterable with the Nigerian Society of Engineers and COREN
ØWorking towards professional Project Management qualification.
ØThree years’ experience in a brewing or FMCG manufacturing environment in a project management role. Operational experience is desired.
Ø Good project management skills
Ø Authorised High Voltage Person 
Ø Track record of multiple projects delivered.
Ø Experienced in Auto card application
