Finally, the National Assembly primaries for the Peoples' Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom state has been concluded with the senate primaries this evening where 3 Senatorial District Candidates emerged after today's PDP primaries conducted in the three zones.

1. Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District:

(Former Finance Commissioner)
*Ita Enang - 3‎

*Nsikak Okon 0‎

3. Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District
Nelson Effiong‎ - 275 (Winner)
(One-time Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly)‎
*Emmanuel Ekuwem - 75‎
*Victor Akan - 35‎‎

The result above is as collated on ground duly supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission and not the official release from the State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)‎.
From the foregoing it confirms the speculations earlier that the Governor intends to be the leader of the upper chambers law makers by ensuring that no present serving law maker returns. Another tinge to the whole development is the emergence of Rt. Hon. Nelson Effiong as the flag bearer for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District as a move to truncate the agenda of the Oro nation for the governorship ticket. Never the less the struggle goes on, the intrigue increases and the suspense continues.
