NNPC Attributes Sudden Fuel Queues In Lagos To Road Construction Gridlock by Ishilove: 12:32am On Dec 10, 2014
Abuja –  The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has attributed the queues in some filling stations in Lagos to panic buying occasioned by gridlock of the ongoing road construction in Apapa.

This is contained in statement by Ohi Alegbe, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Department NNPC in Abuja on Tuesday.

The statement stated that the situation resulted to reduced truck- out of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from Oil Marketing Companies’ Depots in Apapa Area of Lagos.

It stated that NNPC and its downstream subsidiary, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) had over 32 days stock of petroleum products available for supply across the nation during the yuletide.
It stated that additional PMS laden vessels had also arrived Lagos Port

The corporation noted that the market was robust with premium motor spirit also known as petrol, and enjoined motorists in Lagos and its environs not to engage in panic buying.

It urged marketers affected by the Apapa road construction to load their petroleum products from its inland depot in Mosimi so as to support the “zero tolerance to fuel queues” policy across the country.

It appealed to marketers to immediately commence loading from the PPMC Mosimi depot to cover for the shortfall from Apapa.

The corporation also advised marketers to desist from hoarding or diverting of petroleum products as any marketer caught in the nefarious act would be sanctioned.

The NNPC called on the general public to avoid panic buying of petroleum products as adequate measures had been put in place to supply the nation with PMS.
It stated that this was to ensure hitch-free transportation of goods and services during the yuletide period and beyond. (NAN)

When would there be a time when fuel scarcity or long queues in fuel stations would be no more.
Road construction is not enough reasons for long queues. Things that should cause queues should be things like this

ROAD CONSTRUCTION for real?

The Apapa road construction did not start yesterday....find another excuse?

There is no justification for SUBSIDY payments again...with the falling oil prices.

APAPA ko MAGODO Ni.

Can they look for another road network to pass to solve this madness.

Its funny how this people gives excuses that are totally unacceptable.

Is it today road construction started in Lagos.

No Light, No fuel and this one is here saying APAPA Road is what we should blame.

Can you come up with a solution to get the problem solved and instruct the fuel station not to rob us because of this.

The station I got fuel today sold at a higher Price and what would we do we all bought it naa for extra 100, 200 even some 500 Naira self calling it access charge.

This explanation is timely in order to avoid conspiracy theories in this period of electioneering, yelutide and dwindiling global oil prices, although the upgrade in transport fares when I commute between Alaba Int'l and Festac is not really desirable since this panic session began.

The Subsidy was a SCAM from day one, its got nothing to do with cost of production or import.
Our Govt is just encouraging its cronies and Cabal members to fleece ordinary Nigerians, whom meanwhile, are busy wrestling themselves over Party affiliations!
grin grin

Otherwise, with Crude reaching almost half price now, you will expect that at least, even if it is One Naira, price of fuel should have decreased but hey, this is Nigeria for you!

Almost in every country, even the non-oil producing ones, price of fuel at the pumps has gone down at least by 15%, in response to cheap crude.

In Naija, Price is going up! grin grin

All na lie!

For months now the apapa road contruction has been on going and there was no shortage in supply of pms, all of a sudden in december the road contruction has become the reason behind the shortfall.

I just hope this new year gift will not be like the last one.
