Why cant we just use the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) to count votes for Christ's sake?

Still, this method that was used as far back as the days of Roman Emperors, is what we confide in this 21st century.

As India is bigger than us in size and population, the EVM has worked perfectly well for 380million voters in 2004. Why cant we just get this done Asap?

I heard a few politicians from different parties saying some things like....
( can't remember some names)

"If the ATM can't be a trusted counting machine, then it won't work in Nigeria."

"Even the Computer is prone to errors"

"I prefer human error to computer error. At least you can correct it" (he chuckled)

"Even the American Govt have issues with the EVM. It may take years before we can get used to it in our poltical atmosphere."

"Most of our voters are Illiterate. It may fail from lack of Technical know-how than from compilation of results."- a Pastor

"Electronic?? Let power supply become stable first, then we can move from there" (he adjusted his flowing white agbada)

What's your take on this issue. The earlier the better. Or are our politicians scared of outcome(s)?

It is very easy to manipulate jare.

Except we happen to have neutral skilled experts from Europe monitoring the system, some virus or human attack can corrupt or manipulate the entire results.

Let us have steady power first; you will be surprised at the high levels of illiteracy.

But the population of illiterates in India is larger than Nigeria's entire population, yet they still use EVMs

Well there has to be awareness and trust in a system. Religious and tribal sentiments may be higher in Nigeria than in India.

Our infrastructure layout is very poor, currently there is just 1 centre to register voters in over 7 towns.

PS: The phone he is using to post has a battery of 8%. Can't remember when last we saw public electricity yet some dudes on NTA will be holding seminars on research & development.

A female student queud for over 6 hours today and was only able to write her name against tomorrow. She has decided not to bother anymore and is now telling others not to.

Is it JAMB that has forced computer based exam down the throats of Nigerian youths? The registration points for Rivers State for 2015 JAMB is not more than 7 to cater for hundreds of thousands.

Lets look at the real society and forget the lies of our ministers who paint a rosy society.

Scared of the things/truths the innovation will expose.

We'll use EVM when the politicians are ready to accept what the people say and who they vote for.
Accept it and work hand in hand for a better Nigeria

well not one was bothered about hackers. The EVMs and some other new forms have combated with hacking and its work assurance is above 68%
