The body of a man is found helplessly on the bridge of Maryland in the morning of December 11.

The body is laid beside the road on the pavement, oozing out pungent odour such that passers-by have to cover their nose.

As at 10am, the cause of his death was yet to be ascertained except his mobile phone and a small sack that contains some clothes beside him. No one could give explanation on this unknown body as there are no stains of blood or injuries which could have been easily concluded to a hit-and -run.

People wonder why the stinking, as the body looks fresh and was not there yesterday.

“He looks like a drunk,’’ One of the taxi drivers around said, while the remaining people including the passersby dispersed in confusion after a lots of questionings as to unravel the mystery behind the cause of the death of the man..COM

Is he really dead?

Danm! Here lies yours demise... he won't be around to see the pdp fall... rip man.

At death the bowel collapses, sh1t and piss plus other internal body fluids like sputum begin to ooze out of the body.

The Digestive tract stops functioning, methane gas then begins to build up. The rotten process begins in the body first before it is visibly apparent.

In warm climes like in tropical urban Lagos the decaying process is much faster.

The body was obviously planted given the way it lies in proximity to the wall in a fuetal position. This indicates that it must have been carried and not dragged. At least two people were involved in the placing of the body.

Rigormortis has not yet set in. That puts the time of death less than 8 hours before the picture was taken.

This is a either a murder case or wrongful death in which the body was removed from the scene of death and dumped in a public space.

The choice of a public space far removed from the scene of death is a clue that the victim died in familiar grounds where he will be easily identified and his whereabouts before death traced.


All these are conjectures. He could have been a victim of a bus robbery or ritual abduction. A full autopsy will determine if he died by poison or in a struggle most likely strangulation. Prescience of semen discharge will indicate a violent suffocation.

Medical history will also have to be conducted to find out if the victim had an underlying medical condition such as asthma, predisposition to circulatory ailment or stroke which contributed to his demise.

The phone also may give us an insight on who the perpetrators were.

It is conspicuously placed in order to allow for the victim's relatives to trace him.
