South-East Pilgrims were flown from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu to Israel for this year’s pilgrimage.

The historic event comes a year after Governor Peter Obi, out of protest, prevented Anambra State from participating in the yearly pilgrimage to holy land for not being airlifted from Akanu Ibiam International Airport.

Speaking at a brief airport ceremony before departure, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission (NPCP), John Kennedy Opara, JP, thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for granting permission for the pilgrims to be airlifted from Akanu Ibiam International Airport.
